Shennongjia (神农架) is located in northwestern Hubei Province. Legend has it that the Chinese civilization’s earliest ancestor, Emperor Yan, also known as Shennong (神农), once used ladders (“jia”) to collect medicinal herbs here. Hence its name of Shennongjia. Shennongjia is a forestry district encompassing several large scenic areas. Its dense forests, unchanged from primitive times, are teeming with plant and animal life. The area is a World Natural Heritage Site. Shennongjia is home to the Shennongjia Savage, one of the Four Unsolved Mysteries of the World and a source of great fascination to many.

Shennongjia Ski Resort is outfitted with intermediate and middle skiing slopes whose degrees are 5 to 15. Also it is equipped with tow cable way which assumes the shape of "S". When dashing down the mountainside, visitors enjoy a great deal of fun and amusement.
At an elevation of 2,000 meters, Shennongjia Ski Resort is located on the top of Jiuhuping (mountain) in Shennongjia Nature Reserve. It is a ski-tourism resort in south China. It has slopes of low and middle levels ranging from 5 to 15 degrees
Without a doubt, the forest zone is an attraction teeming with virgin scenery and folk legends, awaiting the enjoyment and excitement of casual tourists and researchers alike. There are three central towns in the area: Muyu, Hongping and Songbai. Among them, Muyu is where the tourist center sets up.
