About Song County: Song County lies to the southwest of Luoyang, Henan Province, and gets its name from the Song Mountains, which begin in the county. Today, the county has over 2,200 years of history and has been called the back garden of the ancient city of Luoyang. Song County has a long history and brilliant culture. Here there are remains of both the Neolithic Yangshao culture and the early Bronze Age Erlitou culture. Song County abounds in tourist destinations, including rocky mountainous landscapes as represented by Baiyun (“White Cloud”) Mountain, Yuhuang (“Jade Emperor”) Peak, Guanmao (“Official's Hat”) Peak, and Flying Rock. It also has forest scenery, as represented by the Tang era (618-907) Yinxinglin (银杏林 - “Ginkgo Grove”), old-growth forest, high mountain rhododendrons, and bamboo groves. The most famous attraction is Baiyun (“White Cloud”) Mountain Scenic Area, nicknamed “fairyland on earth.”
