Panmen Scenic Area is located in the southwest foot of the ancient city of Suzhou, covering an area of 24.86 hectares. The Ruiguang Tower, the Water and Land Gate and Wumen Bridge are all key cultural relics protection units in the scenic area. Panmen was built in the spring and autumn period and is one of the eight gates of Suzhou City. It was first made as an "Tuen Mun" and was changed to "Panmen" because of the back and back of the water and land.
Panmen has three views, the water and land gate, the Ruiguang Tower, Wumen Bridge [view] enters from the East Gate, you can also enter from the South Gate. The South Gate is on the edge of the moat, and directly to the water and land gate. There is a Wumen bridge at the entrance. Outside the scenic spot, Wumen bridge is located in the southern section of the moat. There is also a Panlong Bridge on the east side, straight to the east gate of Panmen Scenic Area, and the entrance is the Raylight Tower. [Interesting] Raylight Tower can climb up and see. The water and land gates and walls can see the wisdom of the people at that time, the advantageous terrain of war, so-called occupation heights. The gate of the water and land gate looks spectacular, the enemy underneath enters, shoots arrows upstairs. Water attack will put down the gate. [Cost-effective] tickets are not expensive, Suzhou citizens can use leisure cards.
Pan Gate was called Pan Gate in ancient times. In the sixth year of King Zhou Jing (514 years ago), King Wu Zixu ordered Wu Zixu to build the capital city of Wu in the Spring and Autumn Period. Because there was a wooden beetle hanging on the door to show the deterrence of the country, and because of its "water and land phase half, along the buckling", named after. Pan Gate is a relic constructed successively in the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. It is the only ancient city gate that has been kept intact on both land and water. It has extremely high historical and cultural value. It is said that "the hero of the Great Wall in the north, the show of Panmen in the south".
