About Xiyuan Temple

Xiyuan Temple is located in Liuyuan Road, Tumen, Suzhou City. It was built in the Yuan Dynasty and was named as Yuanyuan Temple. During the Jiajing Period of the Ming Dynasty (AD 1522–1566), Tai Tai was placed in the East Garden (now named Liuyuan), and the Guiyuan Temple was changed to a home garden. There are four buildings in the temple, such as the Heavenly King Hall, the Daxiong Hall, the Wubai Luohan Hall, the Guanyin Temple and the Tibetan Classical Building. Among them, Luohantang has outstanding features. In the center of the church, there is a thousand-handed Guanyin, which is carved from the whole camphor wood. It is not far away, there is a special Buddha statue with four different faces on all sides. It is said to represent the four famous mountains of Buddhism and their main gods.
