Beng Mealea, the junhle temple
#2024wish
I just had an experiment and saw the beauty of the jungle temple on the way to Phras Vihea Provine. The temple looks very antique in the centre of the forest.
Beng Mealea, a largely unrestored jungle temple, is home to a wooden walkway for visitors, but more experienced explorers can explore the ruins through rubble-filled corridors and make their own discoveries.
The temple, located 70km from Siem Reap, has become easier to access due to improved roads. A private taxi takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes from Siem Reap, with a 2-hour wait at the temple. Return journeys cost between 45 and 55 USD. Taking small roads away from National Route 6 offers a quiet drive through the Cambodian countryside. A tuk tuk tour for Beng Mealea is also available, but it takes 30 minutes per hour without significant cost savings or comfort.
Beng Mealea, a small village in Siem Reap, offers a variety of Khmer food and accommodations, including small restaurants outside the entrance. Although the food is overpriced, it provides convenience and supports the local economy. Visitors can also stop for iced coffee or bai chas before returning to Siem Reap. There are no official guesthouses or homestays in the village, but local restaurants can provide blankets and mats on a wooden floor for up to $5 per person per night, although bargaining may be possible.
The temple is open daily, but its busiest hours are between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., particularly between November and February. For a peaceful experience, it's best to visit at sunrise, and two hours later, when the light is magical, birds are singing, and the site is deserted.
I would recommend visiting the temple if you want the most antique piece that will make you enchanted by its wonderful construction with art. #bengmealea #jungle temple #antiquecity #travelphotography
Nowadays, many parts of the temple are collapsed by various factors such as nature and war. If visitors want to go inside the temple, they have to walk on the wooden bridge built by the APSARA national Authority.
This temple was built as a Hindu temple. Its primary material is sandstone, and it is largely unrestored, with trees and thick brush thriving amidst its towers and courtyards and many of its stones lying in great heaps.Beng Mealea Temple was built during the reign of king Suryavarman Il in the late 11th century to early 12th century.
Beng Mealea Temple is a historical attraction that is located about 60 kilometer northeast of Siem Reap city and one of the most mysterious temples at Angkor.

BengMealea is not in the Angkor pass range, we chose to string it with the empty Banglu KompongPluk, Ximei to a day trip. Bengmilie is 40 kilometers east of Angkor's monuments. It is highly recommended to try bamboo rice on the road. The glutinous rice is slightly salty, and the sweet coconut juice and red beans are cooked together. It is very delicious. When we came back, we asked the driver to stop and buy it. Near the roadside of the collapse of the column, you can see a large lotus pond. Later, I learned that "the collapse of the column" means "the lotus pond". It is a small Angkor Wat-style temple. The materials used to build this temple were sandstone, so many buildings have been damaged, and it is difficult to be restored. Want to feel the appearance of Angkor was first discovered, here is a wise choice, here is also a film and television works, such as "Tomb Raider". There is a tour guide in the scenic spot to lead you through the rubble, explore the secret, pay no tip is not forced, tip $1 is enough. The tour guides in the scenic spot are very formal, hanging a badge, amiable, if you don't need them to explain, they will not stick to you. Mom's legs and feet are not good, choose to take the boardwalk, my father and I follow a female guide to start climbing stones, some Buddha statues are in the stone pile, do not follow her completely can not see; some still some buildings are wrapped in trees. The pits left behind by the mine explosion can also be seen in the ruins, and war, earthquakes and time have made it what it is now. It is said that the collapsed building will not be restored, the existing wall broken tiles have been reinforced, the collapsed stone wall on the ground will sleep here, to maintain its existing appearance, full of vicissitudes.
