Zhejiang Linhai Grand Volcano is located in the Dakantou Village of Taoyuan Scenic Area, which broke out in the Cretaceous period 80 million years ago. It is the representative of large-scale volcanic activity on the southeast coast of China and the last volcano of the Mesozoic. Walking into the Linhai volcano, you will be attracted by the dense rock pillars in front of you. This is a hexagonal cylinder formed by the volcanic lava melting. Because it is shaped like a coral, it is also called coral rock. Don't look at the pillars that are only a dozen centimeters out of the ground. In fact, each pillar has a depth of 200 to 300 meters. More than 15 million hexagonal rock pillars have been preserved here, also known as columnar joints. The shape and development of these rock pillars is typical in geological history, comparable to similar rock pillars in Hawaii and Ireland.
