About Tianjin

Tianjin is a city with a rich urban atmosphere. It is also a famous historical city where western and eastern culture meet and mingle. In Tianjin, you can visit the elegant Wuda Avenue and take a gander at the numerous western-style villas. It gives people a sense of being overseas. However, when you come to the Ancient Culture Street near the Haihe River, you will truly experience traditional Chinese culture. How about getting to know Tianjin even better? In that case, take a seat onboard one of the Haihe River tourist boats. From the water you can appreciate the beautiful scenery of the riverbanks. Try local specialties like "goubuli" steamed buns or "jianbing". Don't forget to grab some "damahua" twisted dough sticks to take home as souvenirs to give your friends a taste of Tianjin.

As a metropolis in the northern region, Tianjin has played a very important role in modern history and has left many valuable historical buildings. The most beautiful area in Tianjin is no more than five avenues. The Fifth Avenue is the collective name of the Five Roads. It is the five streets named after Chengdu, Chongqing, Dali, Weinan and the Racecourse. It is a must-see for those visiting Tianjin. The five-avenue scenic spot is free, and the biggest feature here is the various small ocean buildings. The five avenues have more than 2,000 national-style buildings built in the 1920s and 1930s. More than 300 of these are very distinctive, including 89 British-style buildings, 41 Italian-style buildings, and 6 French-style buildings and 3 Spanish buildings.

The West Kai Church is located at the south end of the lively Binjiang Road in Tianjin. At the commercial streets there are huge buildings on both sides of the street, and the church standing tall is an absolutely beautiful landmark. This site selected for the church was not an accident by urban development, but an 18th century. The Holy society deliberately hoped that the bishop's seat would be located in the new Tianjin area at that time, in order to facilitate the spread of communication and doctrine. The riverside road that has been developed has become a lively pedestrian street. With hustling and bustling of the crowd, and the West Kai Church has a mass every time. It is a packed house, which is one of the most active Catholic churches in North China. This is probably the God's will. The Western Kai Church is a Romanesque building built by the French. It is worth mentioning that every brick in the church was from the French mainland. Perhaps the prosperity of the Western Kai Church is now impressed by this full sincerity. But I don’t know how much of it will be left after the years of war and turmoil. One should visit this place and should not forget to sit down for a while and look up at the beautiful dome. Whether it's a new brick or old tile, it carries too many traces of years and history.

The Eye of Tianjin is placed on the Yongle Bridge (also known as the Cihai Bridge) between Jingang Bridge and Shijie. I used to go to school here, and now I go to work. Even on weekends, I walked past the Eye of Tianjin. I saw it in the morning, and I saw it in the light of the night. I saw the faint smog; I saw the sun set.  The Sancha River mouth draws the shape of V on the Haihe River, and there is a Monument in honour of the People's Heroes. It looks at the Ferris wheel on the Yongle Bridge not far away. If you take the cable car, you can enjoy the view of the hustle and bustle that goes on in the city. The bridges with unique designs are the beautiful scenery on the Haihe River. The calm sea and river waters are extraordinarily quiet at night. Only the cruise ships sail past the winding roads. This night was exceptionally beautiful.
