About Tongcheng: Tongcheng City was known as the “Tong Kingdom” in ancient times. The city is located along the southernmost part of the central region of Anhui Province and is under the administration of Anqing City. Tongcheng is at the historical and cultural center of Anhui Province. Hence, it has been called the “cultural capital” of the province. The renowned Qing Dynasty “Tongcheng School” of scholars came from this region. The county is home to a number of places of historic interest. Some examples are Six-Foot Alley, Tongcheng Confucian Temple, the former residences of the Wu and Yue Families, and Banshan Pavilion.
