St. Andrew's Church

They put a sign on the street and invited people to come in. They have a house and a museum and a dinner for the homeless. There are no magnificent frescoes, but even though people pass by on their way home from the street, they know it is a church, a place to rest in a busy busy city.

I am ashamed to say that this church was the first church I photographed after I came to Toronto, but until today I didn’t know its name is St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. At that time, I only thought it was a nice contrast with the CN Tower. It was really a good shot. point

St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, located on Simcoe Street in the heart of Toronto, is a historic Roman Revival Presbyterian Church. It was founded in 1830 and was the first Scottish Presbyterian Church in Yorktown. The original site was at the southwest corner of Adelaide East Street. After the division of the Presbyterian Church in Scotland in 1843, a part of the supporters of the free church movement left, and St. Andrew and Rev. James Harris led another group to establish the Knox Presbyterian Church. The former church, which had a smaller area, moved to the south-east corner of the present King and Simcoe Streets in 1876, and the westward move caused controversy and splitting the church. One group continued to use the old church, known as the Old St. Andrews, which was moved to a new site near Jarvis Street in 1878 and developed into the St. Andrews Union in 1951, while the other, also a group of major believers, moved to the new Scottish Roman Church and became the New St. Andrews.

To get to St Andrew's church, take the yellow subway line to St Andrew's, that's it. It's very tall, majestic, and magnificent. It's Roy Thomson Hall across the road.
