Jungfrau Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
I see trees of green ♪
Beautiful alpine village nestled in the mountains with an amazing view of the Jungfrau valley and Lauterbrunnen down below. Taking the train up to Wengen will guarantee you a lovely view of Lauterbrunnen.
The village has shops, attractions and amenities within walking distance. Though, if you do decide to get a resort/hotel further up, be sure to ask for shuttle cars, the upwards slopes are no joke.
Our hotel had a lovely view of the cable car rides up to Männlichen, the street below and at night- if you’re willing to stand in the 14 degrees cold (even in summer) you can get a good picture of the night sky!
Of course, we couldn’t stay in Wengen without visiting Männlichen and her famous Royal Walk- a short hike of 1.7km, with elevations up to 80-120m up/down, grants you a truly breathtaking panoramic view. ((the gravel paths can be a bit slippery so be careful on the way down))
The trail from Männlichen to Kleine Scheidegg was an overall downhill walk with a view of Grindelwald down below and the snow capped mountains. But before you embark on this trail be sure to either get something to eat or drink (and the WC of course) at Männlichen as it is quite a long walk (about 4.7km). Near the midpoint you can see Eiger! A truly memorable walk with amazing scenery of the town below and mountains all around us.
Truly a scenic paradise with plenty of activities to do, whether you prefer to simply enjoy the views or try out some of their more thrilling activities. It was my first time visiting Switzerland but certainly won’t be the last!#switzerland #summervacation #nature #alps

Jungfrau | Top of Europe !!!! 🇨🇭
How to get there: There are 2 ways to go up Jungfrau: 1) By the Cable Car (Eiger Express) or 2) By train. We went up by the eiger express (from Grindelswald, interchanging at Terminal), and we came down by train.
Before we went up, we contemplated of joining a tour but given we have done a fair share of research, I ended up going by ourselves.
There are several viewing sites, which ofc include Jungfrau itself, ice palace, exhibition of history of the site construction of Jungfrau, and Lindlt chocolate museum.
It was negative 18 degree celsius on Jungfrau!!! So for those who cannot handle the cold, don’t visit during the winter 😂😂😂
Despite the weather condition was not ideal (no blue sky😣) but i guess it is as expected because we went during the winter ❄️)
Pro tip: I would recommend purchasing the swiss pass as you get discount for the jungfrau ticket and free transport within Switzerland!!

Grindelwald: A crime if you miss it!
Get here by train! We came via Basel and just enjoyed the scenic views from the huge train windows. Lake, villages, mountains, you won’t want to close your eyes!
Coming here in early autumn, we escaped the crowds and could explore First, Eiger, and Jungfraujoch with ease and little wait time. The mountains are magnificent all thru the year! The colours of the landscape will change and hiking to the Balchapsee is an experience in itself. Discovering WCs in the middle of nowhere, up
in the mountains, complete with toilet tissue is something only the Swiss can guarantee!
There are many hotels in this little village and all are within walking distance of the train station. We stayed at the Eiger Aparthotel as we wanted to prepare our own meals to save cost. Bookings come with daily afternoon tea and the variety of cakes, teas and coffees were an absolute treat!
There are many cafes around for fondue and all sorts of local delights. We opted to explore the two supermarkets for raw ingredients and cooked up our own dinners at a fraction of the cost of eating out. Do check out the different yogurt flavours, types of cheese, and cured meats too!
As it is a tourist destination, you can get souvenirs and major brands here. There is a post office (to send postcards) and some banks if you need forex.
My #2023travelwish is to drop by this beautiful place again in the SUMMER and take in the wonders of creation ❤️

Interlaken, charming village in Switzerland!
#2023travelwish
My most unforgettable vacation destination was Interlaken; a charming village beneath of Jungfrau, Switzerland. Surrounded by mountains and nature beauty, sits between the emerald-coloured waters of Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, it has old timber houses and parkland on either side of the Aare River, truly a beatiful and picturesque holiday destination.
Interlaken is also a hotspot for paragliding, hiking and sightseers alike, and the gateway to exploring the Jungfrau region.
My 2023 dream destination would be Kyoto, Japan for stunning Autumn leaves.🍁

Top of Europe: Snow, Sculptures, Slopes
Hop on a train to reach Jungfraujoch, the Top of Europe, without the huffing and puffing! The air thins as you head up the mountain so take note not to over exert yourself.
The ice palace with beautiful ice sculptures is fascinating to visit, especially if you are from the tropics like me! Walking in the snow is fun but watch out for slippery ice as you queue to take a pic with Swiss flag. The view is breathtaking and it is COLD! Sunnies are really helpful with the blinding snow. Something special to do would be to video call your loved ones and show them the Top of Europe ❤️
There are a couple of eateries and a variety of shops if you are looking for Swiss gifts and keepsakes. The Top of Europe pass entitles you to some discount here.
Opt for the gondolas as you head down to Grindelwald first where you can get a cuppa hot (Lindt) chocolate: it’s amazingly good! That was our ‘cherry on top’ to complete this unique adventure.
My #2023travelwish is to bring my friends on a trip to New Zealand’s South Island to explore the glaciers and look out for wild life.

Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe - is easily accessible by cable car, cogwheel trains via Grindelwald, or via Lauterbrunnen-Wengen.
It was not cheap to visit but it was all worth it. The view was scenic, and it has a viewing point in the Bernese Alps, at an altitude of 3,454 m.
Plan your trip carefully and refer to the weather forecast before you purchase your tickets.
A winter wonderland to be at!

zermatt
June to September: Situated at a height of 1,600 metres, the climate in Zermatt is very pleasant until autumn. The best time to visit Zermatt is during summers, between June and September. The temperature ranges from 12 degrees Celsius to 25 degrees Celsius. September is generally excellent for hiking and biking, with daytime highs averaging 15 degrees Celsius. It is also a good time for skiing and other adventure activities.
November to January: Christmas and New Year’s is another peak season for tourism in Zermatt, especially for adventure enthusiasts. The accommodation at this time of the year is premium and reservations well in advance, are a prerequisite. Although the temperature easily dips below zero, this is also the time when Mt. Matterhorn is thronged by skiing enthusiasts from around the world.
Another Adventurous Ski Day in the Alps
#skiadventure
In winter, the snow-assured ski region of Zermatt offers 360 km of pistes in three varied ski areas: the Sunnegga-Rothorn, Gornergrat-Stockhorn, Schwarzsee and Matterhorn glacier paradise. Snowboarders and freestylers are able to hone their skills in the Snowpark Zermatt in which Olympic hopefuls also train. A crossover to the Italian ski region of Breuil-Cervinia and Valtournenche is possible from the Matterhorn glacier paradise / Theodulpass.
Those in search of something different can try their hand at paragliding or off-piste heli-skiing accompanied by an experienced mountain guide.
Staying in the Swiss Alps!!
Had the pleasure to spend few nights in Zermatt, Switzerland! One of the most beautiful valleys in the Swiss Alps where you can experience the incredible Matterhorn!
Zermatt, in southern Switzerland’s Valais canton, is a mountain resort renowned for skiing, climbing and hiking. The town, at an elevation of around 1,600m, lies below the iconic, pyramid-shaped Matterhorn peak. Its main street, Bahnhofstrasse is lined with boutique shops, hotels and restaurants, and also has a lively après-ski scene. There are public outdoor rinks for ice-skating and curling.

Cloudy day in Gornergrat
#winhkflight #gornergrat #switzerland
Even though is cloudy day, I still enjoy my trip to Gornergrat. It would be better if the weather is clear, you will get to enjoy the spectacular view of Matterhorn. Gornergrat is surrounded by almost 29 peaks. Gornergrat Bahn is reachable with the Gornergrat Railway. The pricing of the railway is vary depending on the route and season. With a Swiss Travel Pass, you will get to enjoy a 50% discount. It is recommended to wear water proof shoes. They also offer plenty of activities such as hiking, sledding, skiing, mountain biking and more. You may check their website for more information.

Gornergrat - heart of the Zermatt skiing area - can be reached from Zermatt town with a 33-minute cogwheel train ride.
From here, you can have a clear view of the Matterhorn and dozens of other tall peaks (if the weather is good).
The mountain panorama and the view of the Matterhorn are unforgettable.

Matterhorn Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
The Mighty Matterhorn
Luxury Ski Holidays in the Matterhorn Valley of Cervinia, Italy offer some of the most superb skiing in the Alps. Cervinia is a high altitude resort at 2000 meters, dominated by the mighty Matterhorn, with reliable snow conditions throughout the Winter from December right through to April. The long, open runs and easy gradients of Plateau Rosa are ideal for advanced beginners and intermediates from which you can enjoy some fantastic views. More advanced skiers can head to Valtournenche and Zermatt, Switzerland for an incredible ski area at their disposal. Valtournenche is an old village approximately 9 km from Cervinia whilst Zermatt is on the Swiss side, both link into the ski area of Cervinia.
Cervinias biggest asset is its altitude and skiing continues well into the summer months on the attractive Plateau Rosa, set against a magnificent glacial backdrop. In addition there are plentiful winter activities to be undertaken such as ice-skating, snowshoes walking, snow bike, paragliding and climbing on the beautiful Via Ferrara del Gorbeillon.

Do you know Toblerone chocolate? I guest most ppl ate it before or heard of it. The mountain on the package is Matterhorn! I finally get to see it in real! I just live this place so much!
The only sad thing is I didn’t get to ski because you can only ski in the morning during the summer time! If you are interested in skiing in there during summer, remember to go in the morning!
#beyondborders
The main street of the town is 1500 meters long.
There are three classic routes from Zermatt, the Gornergrat, the Rothorn and the Matterhorn glacier paradise.
Article 1: Zermatt-Gornergrat
Since the opening of the Gora Glat Mountain Railway in 1898, as long as you take the mountain train and sit for 45 minutes, you can enjoy 29 seats including the Matterhorn. In the Alps, you can see the beautiful scenery that only climbers can see in the past.
this
Second: Zermatt-Rothorn
This line feels like the most beautiful route, because the Matterhorn seen at the Rothorn Lookout at 3103 meters above sea level is the sharpest and most angled. Good, and a little later you can see the Fendern Glacier lying quietly in the mountains, also a gazebo
third that can simultaneously admire the Matterhorn and the glacier: Zermatt-Matterhorn glacier paradise/ Compared with the first two lines, hh/ is the farthest from the town, but it is the closest one to Matterhorn. Matterhorn Glacier Paradise, also known as the Little Matterhorn, can be reached by cable car. The observation deck is 3,883 meters above sea level. It is the observatory where the highest point in Europe is located.
