What people are saying:

Whitby is the place where the famous British navigator Captain Cook started. He was the first Englishman to arrive in Australia and New Zealand. On the high ground on the coast of Whitby, there stands his bronze statue, which is very tall and majestic, symbolizing the dream of a powerful ocean power in the past.

Impressive statue to a sea faring legend

This is an impressive statue of Captain Cook as he looks over the harbour and out to sea. Location is excellent just next to the whale bones overlooking the whole of Whitby

    Windy visit

Visited the statue when looking at the whalebone arch. It was a very windy day so I didn't stop for too long, but a great vantage point to see the town.
