York Cathedral, also known as St. Peter's Basilica, is the largest extremist medieval Gothic church in Europe.
is one of the most exquisite churches in the world of design and architecture. It is magnificent and solemn, and it took more than 200 years to build. The
church was built in 627 AD, when it was an all-wood structure that was destroyed by war in the civil war.
1060, the Normans captured York, built the first Norman church, and still see the cornerstone and basement of the church.
Every evening, the evening prayers of the cathedral are in harmony with the beautiful singing and organ of the choir,
adds to the majestic atmosphere of York Minster, and the whole piece of stained glass in the southeast of the church is the largest in the world. Medieval stained-glass windows, the north wing of the
church is in early British style; the front hall and choir and small auditorium are decorated in a baroque style, the
central hall is in a central axis symmetry, and the hall is "Harry" The location of the Hogwarts Hall in Porter.
York City is not big, the magnificent York Cathedral is even more spectacular, located in the city center, the surrounding meat shop market is not selected. The interior of the cathedral personally feels that the biblical stories on the vault and glass windows are worth seeing, and there are two underground exhibition halls.
I got a 20 minutes window at the York station and decided to go for a walk. You could see the building far away even from the station and it was a quick walk. I remember getting stunned by the size of it. Although one side was still under construction, the other sides is in perfect condition and generally a gorgeous architecture. Manny locals like to sit and chill near it and the tourists like to take pictures of it.
The most famous place in York is the Cathedral of York. It is the largest medieval church in Europe, and is now seen as the largest Gothic church in the UK and north of the entire European Alps, built in 1220 and completed in 250 years. This magnificent cathedral, with its exquisite craftsmanship from different angles, inside and outside, has stood here for more than 800 years like a work of art, an antique.
Buy tickets for adults on the spot for 16 pounds (l6x9= 144) per person. The Ctrip handling fee is too high. It is recommended to buy tickets on the spot and basically do not need to queue. The cathedral is a must to go, very shocking!
beautiful place
Very majestic, long history, suitable temperature, suitable for taking pictures
York minster is breathtaking. Huge, detailed, situated just after the shambles
such an amazing place to go visit. All staff are very friendly and helpful. There are about 8 steps into the minster and some inside leading to different areas but plenty of ramps and assistance if required. Once you have your entrance ticket you are then able to come back and visit (free) for up-to a year. Was even lucky enough to catch a sermon whilst there. Also to keep the kids engaged they had 3 different types of adventure/search booklets you can purchase. Most interactive part was the museum attached and included in your ticket price, lots for kids to do there.
