Iron Gate Pass is located in the Qing Chuan Pavilion Scenic District in Han Yang District in Wu Han City and was first built in the Three Kingdoms period. Surviving numerous wars, the Iron Gate Pass was formerly an important military fortress. With the building of Han Yang City, the Iron Gate Pass gradually became an important channel for cultural and commercial exchange. The exterior of the walls are made of red sandstone whereas the interior is made of steel-reinforced concrete. The spot also features statues of personages from the "Romance of Three Kingdoms" novel.
