During my latest adventure, I stumbled upon Kunming, an incredible city located in the Yunnan province of China. Great city to visit. Vibrant, breathable, interesting,historical and most of all relaxed. The city is reasonably large and spread out around the lake Dianchi, but the interesting part of the city center is actually rather compact and easy to navigate on foot or with one of the numerous e-bikes you can find parked almost everywhere. Aim to have your hotel somewhere between WuYi and the DongFeng Guang Chan subway stations if you want to be close to the pedestrian streets and tourist center. There are some places you will want to use the subway or taxi for, like the XiShan or the Yunnan Ethnic village, both of which I highly recommend, but Green Lake park, Yuantong temple, NanChang Jie, Kunming Lao Jie are all situated in the center and easily reached on foot. The climate in winter was super pleasant, with bright clear skies and comfortable 15-20c during the day. During the night the temperature drops considerably, but it does not seem to stop the locals from dining on the open terraces. The city actually has so many great things to see and visit, that it is basically up to you how long you wish to stay. We extended our stay twice and honestly, I would seriously consider moving to this city long term, because it does feel like it has got it all. #urbanexplorer

After taking the cablecar from Xishan mountain park over Dianchi lake we arrived near to Yunnan Ethnic Minority village park. This is a very interesting place, containing many small recreation villages of different Ethnic minorities from Yunnan province. Among them are the Dai, Yi, Miao, Achang, Naxi, Bai, Shui, Pumi, Yao, Hui, Zhuang, Mongol, Jinuo and many more minority villages. Some of these are major minority groups from Yunnan and some are more minor or represented in greater numbers in other provinces or neighbouring countries to China. It was extremely interesting to walk from village to village in this park, seeing how the cultures differ in architectural style, clothing, occupations, decoration, religion and day to day life. Some minorities live in houses that are lifted up from the floor, to avoid animals living on the forest floor, some have religious temples and some have ritual activities that you can take part in. Most of the village buildings are in a distinctive chinese style but all differ in the details. There are restaurants and food stalls throughout the park where they are serving authentic cuisine from their cultures. There are also many souvenir shops where you can buy crafts and clothing made by the locals. #asiatrip

How to get there - I took a DiDi from my hotel located near Kunming railway station and it took about 30mins. From the DiDi drop off location I walked about 5 minutes. This tourist attraction is quite nice and large. Walk around and enjoy the different villages. Throughout the day, there are different shows showcasing different villages. I strongly suggest you take a photo of the schedule when you enter the site. It is located in front of the gate. I watched two of the shows and thought they were very good and interesting. Food- There are some restaurants at the entrance. When I visited there was quite a bit of construction going on but I still had a good time! Yunnan Ethnic Village provided a mixed range of emotions. The people were really nice and getting there was really convenient with a phone but it’s just a replica or like a re-enactment of different ethnicities throughout all of China. I thought it was an older abandoned town where ethnic minorities use to live LOL. It’s just a replica. The natural sites were really pretty which made it worth it. You can see Xishuan Mountain in the background which was really cool. Kunming, also known as the Spring City, is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Yunnan Province, the provincial capital, a mega-city, and the central city of the Central Yunnan City Cluster. It is one of the important central cities in the western region of China as approved by the State Council, and an important city for tourism and commerce in China. The city administers 7 districts, 3 counties, oversees 1 county-level city, and 3 autonomous counties, with a total area of 21,012.54 square kilometers and a permanent population of 8.6 million, with an urbanization rate of 81.1%. When traveling to Yunnan, you must visit the Spring City, where many city parks and the Dianchi Lake Wetland Park, along with famous attractions such as the Western Hills Dragon Gate and the Ethnic Villages, are located right next to the urban area. Spending two or three days touring the Spring City will make you feel that time is not enough, and you will have the feeling of lingering and returning.

This time, when visiting Yunnan to see the seagulls at Dianchi Lake, I made a special trip to the Yunnan Ethnic Village. The village is located in the Kunming Dianchi National Tourism and Holiday Resort, right next to the plateau pearl Dianchi Lake. After checking in with the seagulls at Dianchi Lake at 10 am, we took a taxi directly to the ethnic village, which only cost the starting fare. The ethnic village mainly condenses the cultural customs, architectural art, music and dance, religious beliefs, and living environment of twenty-five ethnic minorities including the Dai, Bai, Yi, and Naxi peoples of Yunnan. Due to its large area, it takes at least half a day to walk around and take photos.

Sincerely remind you to rent a car when you enter to play, it's too big and tiring. It took two and a half hours even by bike. You need to keep track of the performance schedule, otherwise you won't be able to watch it.

| Yunnan Ethnic Village. The Yunnan Ethnic Village is located on the southern side of Kunming City, by the Dian Lake, and is a popular spot for Kunming tourism. The village comprises 25 ethnic minority villages, such as the Dai, Bai, Yi, and others, each with its own unique customs, craft performances, and more, allowing visitors to experience the diverse ethnic cultures of Yunnan in just one day. In the Ethnic Village, the Dai and Yi villages are worth a visit. The Dai village is the first village you enter in the Ethnic Village, filled with tropical and subtropical plants, interspersed with exquisite and elegant Dai bamboo buildings. Typical Dai architecture includes stilted houses, style buildings, water-splashing pavilions, temples, and water-splashing squares. Noteworthy is the village's white pagoda 'Bozhong Pagoda,' which is a scaled replica of the Yunyan Pagoda in Dehong Prefecture, Yingjiang County. The 40 small pagodas are surrounded by a tall main pagoda and 365 wind chimes, which are very pleasant to hear. You can also take a boat near the Dai village. The Yi village is notable for its Solar Calendar Square. A stone pillar stands in the middle of the square, which ancient Yi people used to observe time by its shadow. The huge 'tiger' in the village is an ancient Yi totem. Additionally, the village features unique Yi earth buildings, liquor roasting workshops, and cultural buildings. During the Dai 'Water-Splashing Festival' in April, and the Yi 'Torch Festival' in July and August, the Ethnic Village also holds lively celebrations. During this period, you might want to join in the fun and experience the more vivid ethnic customs. While playing, you can choose to walk, or rent electric scooters and tandem bicycles to move around the scenic area. The scenic area also has places like the Ethnic Unity Square, Ethnic Song and Dance Hall, and a Flavor Food Area. You can watch folk performances, taste ethnic snacks, buy ethnic handicrafts, enjoy leisure time, and appreciate the ethnic customs.

In the first week after the real 2024 arrived, My family and I chose 🌸Yunnan🌸 as the first choice for our Spring Festival trip. From Kunming, known as the city of eternal spring, to Honghe, whose name alone makes you feel the earth carries its own fragrance, Then to the romantic and leisurely Dali with its 'wind, flowers, snow, and moon', and Yuxi, where the breeze is gentle and the water is clear as a mirror. After running around for 7 days, I regretted it🥀... Regret... that I didn't go there earlier!

My first visit to the ethnic village was 20 years ago, and it felt quite deserted when I went again, perhaps because the ticket price-performance ratio is not high. But as a foreigner, traveling thousands of miles to Kunming, the ethnic village is still worth a visit, especially for friends who have never been there. First of all, there is a very large banyan tree at the main entrance of the ethnic village. From a distance, I thought it was a forest, but it is actually just one tree. The ethnic village has three gates, all with parking lots. Gaode navigation usually navigates to the parking lot of the east gate. From here, you can see that banyan tree. Then you can see the Wish Tower, make a wish first! However, if you want to go to Dianchi Lake next to the ethnic village after playing, it is not recommended to park here, because the parking lot at the north gate is in the middle of Dianchi Lake and the ethnic village, and it is more convenient to park there. There are many performances in the ethnic village, but we almost didn't watch them. We strolled around and left from the north gate to take the Xishan cable car to Xishan Longmen. As a treasure of China's multi-ethnic culture, Yunnan Ethnic Village is rich in colorful history and culture. As soon as I entered the village, I was attracted by the characteristic buildings of various ethnic groups. The well-arranged architectural style shows the unique charm of each ethnic group. There, I not only saw the customs of ethnic minorities such as the Dai, Hani, and Yi, but also tasted authentic ethnic food, and felt a strong local cultural atmosphere. Walking in the village, I could hear the melodious melody of ethnic music from time to time, as if I was in a mysterious and vibrant world. Here, I am not just a tourist, but a traveler of the soul, truly communicating and resonating with ethnic culture. When I left Yunnan Ethnic Village, I left endless beautiful memories in my heart. This colorful journey will always be remembered in my heart.

🔥The passionate and unrestrained 'tribe' - Wa Tribe 🎭Wa Tribe, a nation as unrestrained as fire, is known for its unique Bull Dance, Wooden Drum Dance, and Hair Swinging Dance, full of passion! 💥The Wa people regard black as beautiful, they worship nature, believe in everything, are good at singing and dancing, hardworking and brave. Their costumes are mainly red and black, both boys and girls have long hair, and the Wooden Drum Dance and Hair Swinging Dance of the Wa people are famous at home and abroad. 💃Behind their performance stage are three big characters 'Si Gang Li'. 🌟'Si Gang Li' means coming out of a cave or a gourd, because the Wa people believe that they are a nation that came out of a cave or a gourd. The primitive performances, without playing music, boys singing and beating wooden drums, girls swinging their long hair and dancing in front. 💫 🏚The village is scattered with thatched roof stilted buildings, bull heads🐮, spirits✨, 'Si Gang Li' stone carvings and granaries, etc. The bull head🐮 is the ancient bullfighting venue of the Wa tribe, the bull horn in the middle of the field is the village pile of the Wa tribe, 👥the two stone people in front are the male and female ancestors of the Wa tribe. The spirits✨ reflect the Wa tribe's belief in the spirituality of all things and the immortality of the soul. The two stone statues in the field are respectively the most worshipped 'Mu Yi Ji' and 'A Yi E' by the Wa tribe. 💪💫
