Fenggao Site

Fenghao Site is located on both sides of Fenghe River in Mawang Town and Doumen Town, Chang'an District, Xi'an. It is the former site of Fengyi built by King Wen of Western Zhou Dynasty and Haojing built by King Wu. Feng is in Hexi and Hao is in Hedong. The total area of the Liangjing ruins exceeds 17 square kilometers. More than 400 tombs and chariot pits, horse pits and cattle pits were discovered at the Fenghao site, as well as many cellars where bronze ritual wares were buried, and nearly 100 bronze wares were unearthed. Mawang Village, Luoshui Village, and Kexingzhuang Village had rammed earth building foundations, which were the residential areas of the great nobles at the time; Zhangjiapo, Kexingzhuang and Pudu Village were the burial areas. Fengyi, also known as Fengjing, moved here from Qi after King Wen of Zhou defeated Chonghou Hu. It is a relatively closed area surrounded by water on all sides. The ruins and tombs of the Western Zhou Dynasty here are relatively dense. Haojing is located on the east bank of the Fenghe River. Due to the destruction of Shanglin Garden and Kunming Pool in the Han Dynasty, the overall scope and layout are not clear.
