General Zhang Xueliang Residence

Zhang Xueliang Mansion is located on Jianguo Road, Xi'an City. The main building is three small three-story buildings arranged between September 1935 and December 1936. Zhang Xueliang and his family and their entourage have been renting in this Mansion. Zhang Xueliang Mansion was originally a residential compound built by Northwest Tongji Trust Company in 1934. In 1935, Zhang Xueliang became deputy commander of the "Northwest Haogang Commander" and rented the house when he moved to Xi'an from Hankou. As Zhang Xueliang's private house, the mansion left the footprints of Zhang Xueliang's Xi'an years and witnessed the turning point in Chinese history. It was once the location where Zhang Xueliang announced the order of Jiang, the residence of the Communist Party representatives, and the venue for the negotiation and settlement of the Xi'an Incident. It is an important witness to the "Xi'an Incident". In 1937, the Northeast Army was transferred from Shaanxi, and the mansion immediately changed its main. After the founding of New China, it once became a guest house. By 1983, the "Zhang Xueliang Mansion" was transferred to the provincial cultural relics bureau and renamed the "Xi'an Incident Former Site Management Office". On the 50th anniversary of the Xi'an Incident, the "Zhang Xueliang Mansion" was listed and the "Xi'an Incident Memorial Hall" was officially opened to the public. Now it is the "National Patriotism Education Demonstration Base".
