Not just historical sites, I recommend these places in Xi'an
Xi'an, a city that always makes one eager to explore more. Here, I have visited many historical sites and seen the marks of the years. Having understood much of the past, it's also important to look at the present, so I decided to walk into the streets and alleys of Xi'an to collect the essence of everyday life.
Strolling through Xiangzi Temple Street, I felt comfortable and charmed. Although Xiangzi Temple Street is adjacent to the bustling downtown area, it is a place of tranquility. The lush and verdant phoenix trees on both sides of the road seem to isolate the hustle and bustle of the city, and the grey buildings and the fairy-like Xiangzi Temple add an ancient charm to the area. Walking into Xiangzi Temple Street, understanding Xiangzi culture, and feeling the flow of slow time.
Then I turned into Defu Alley. Different from Xiangzi Temple Street, this place is more modern and youthful. Defu Alley is mainly composed of various coffee houses, bars, etc., with buildings mostly in European-style antique design. Here you can see many young people taking photos, drinking coffee, and socializing, bringing a different vitality to the ancient streets and alleys.
Next, I arrived at Academy Street. True to its name, this street is filled with a strong scholarly atmosphere, with calligraphy, traditional Chinese paintings, and stone tablet rubbings everywhere. I thought the content of the calligraphy and paintings would mostly be ancient poems, but upon closer inspection, there were also easy-to-understand vernacular texts. The Four Treasures of the Study are still a part of people's lives, and literary and artistic works can also keep up with the times. The past and the present, tradition and innovation, collide here to create multiple possibilities.
Different from the past, this time I abandoned the checklist-style visit, without a detailed plan in advance, randomly chose an afternoon, and immersed myself in the bustling streets and alleys, capturing the scenes I liked, recording the impressions of Xi'an in my eyes. In such a slow pace, perhaps one can better feel the temperature of a city.
