Tang Dezong Zhenyuan five years (789) time, built Xuanwumen Gate Building, outside the door set up two corridors, sent soldiers to guard, when called "Beibei". This has become the main stationing place of the Beibei Forbidden Army of the Tang Dynasty.

Xuanwumen, built in the Sui Dynasty, is the north gate of the Daxing Palace in the Sui Dynasty. During the Tang Dynasty, it is located in the west of the north of Taiji Palace. In the parking lot of Ningxi Hotel on Ziqiang West Road, Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province, the site of the Xuanwumen of Taiji Palace is still in existence.
