Having taken a late morning drive to Wynnum we were in the mood for some takeaway fish and chips and selected the Pelican&#39;s Nest from a number of alternative choices. All in all, the experience was great, with prompt, courteous, and efficient service, and very generous servings of fish and chips at good value prices. My wife and I really love potato scallops (as they are called in Queensland) and order one each time we buy takeaway fish and chips. Without doubt, the potato scallops at the Pelican&#39;s Nest were the best we have had in years, and took us back to childhood memories.

The staff were very nice , the pasta was very average , the toilets are a disgrace very dirty , the smoke from the outside area was terrible

The little friends from the emperor are happy, you can also call NEST, haha. But we fell in love with the feeling of drinking coffee in the sun.

We wanted fish and chips for lunch so stopped at the Pelican Nest on the Esplanade at Wynnum. There weren&#39;t a great range of fish varieties on the menu but we both found something that appealed and ordered. We had the choice of eat-in or take away but elected to eat-in. The fish and chips served were the best we have had in quite a few years. Would thoroughly recommend.

Have been to the Nest on our last trip to Brisbane, and went back as the food is so yummy, Very good selection of seafood and well cooked, had the prawns and squid rings on rice and this was as good as the last visit.

I have visited this cafe a few times, mainly because it is off the beaten track making it a nice spot to go on the week end, particularly for breakfast which is served all day. It over looks the water so this makes it even more pleasant although the number of seats available out on the balcony are limited, but nonetheless siting inside still allows some views of the water through the windows. Great on a sunny day, this place is quaint and different in terms of its location and style. There is a friendly ambiance about this place which is what makes me go back and all the food is made on the premises - nothing (within reason) comes out of packet and you can see the chef whisking up the hollandaise sauce for eggs benedict so you know it is real and she adds her own touch. Again it is these things that make us go back. However - I cannot say every experience there is exactly as I would like and thank god the place has charm otherwise I have been tempted to say that it would be my last visit. The service can be dodgy in that I have received full milk lattes when I wanted soy milk, meals have arrived for diners at totally different times meaning we were not eating together or others chose to politely wait so their meals got cold. They have also been known to run out of produce for example baked beans - ok they are home made but this was for brunch at 10am and they do advertise all day brekkie - and there was no available gluten free bread for me - again at brunch time - which surely they could keep in the freezer or run to the nearest supermarket if they are getting low on supplies - and on Mother&#39;s Day we had to wait for over an hour for our meals - my teenage son was just about eating the table! Mmm - so just as well the friendly staff, quaintness and quality of the food over rides these issues enough that I return - but have to say these experiences are starting to wear a bit thin and they really should look at being more organised - there seem to be plenty of staff b

Food was ok but you can get better quality at other local restaurants. Restaurant felt like it needs cleaning properly - the fact that a piece of what I hope was onion was stuck to the wall was off putting. Service was friendly.
