The formal name of the Catholic Church at Wuxing Street is the Saint Francis Cathedral. It is also called the South Cathedral. The church is most commonly called the Catholic Church at Wuxing Street due to its location. The church was built thanks to the support of an Italian missionary called Mar Sergis. The cathedral is a harmonious blend of Western and Chinese styles and uses both wood and stone. The sculptures on the facade are particularly beautiful. A classical Roman style is indicated with the use of arches. Both Western and Chinese details can be spotted in the details of decoration. Four rows of red lacquer pews are lined up neatly in the nave.
