What people are saying:

Huo Qubing's tomb is located about 1 km east of Maoling, northwest of Daochang Village, Nanwei Town, Xingping City. The tomb is mountain-shaped. To the west is the tomb of Weiqing. Huo Qubing was a famous young military strategist in the Western Han Dynasty. At the age of 18, he went to the Huns with Wei Qing, and he attacked six times and finally defeated the Huns invaders. Because of his merits, he was awarded the champion of General Sima Hussar. Huo Qubing was only 24 years old when he died. To commemorate the magnificent military exploits of the young general, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty specially built this tomb symbolizing the Qilian Mountains for him, and placed horses on both sides of the shrine to the Huns, lying horses, prancing horses, stone men, tigers, and elephants. Large-scale stone carvings such as, lying cows, people hugging bears, monsters swallowing sheep, wild boars, fish, etc., among which the horse riding on the Xiongnu is the most famous.

Additional Information

Introduction

The Tomb of Huo Qubing is located about 15 km northeast of Xingping City, about one km northeast of Maoling Emperor of the Han dynasty. At the age of 23, Huo Qubing passed away. To honor his merits in the wars, the Emperor built his mausoleum in the northeast of his own tomb for company. On both the east and west corners in the south of his tomb, there is a meandering path leading to the top of the tomb. Its encampment is stacked with boulders and there are stone men and animals in front of the tomb. Among them, the Horse Stepping on the Huns is the main stone carving. The stone horse stands with its head held high, and under its belly is the image of the Huns struggling on the back with a bow and arrow dagger. It is a monumental work.
