Yangzhou University is located in Yangzhou, a famous historical and cultural city on the bank of the Yangtze River and the ancient canal. It is a key comprehensive university of Jiangsu Province. It is the first university in China to merge and run schools. It is also known as a banner for the reform of Chinese universities. The predecessor of Yangzhou University can be traced back to the Tongzhou Normal School, founded by the famous Chinese industrialist and educator Zhang Jian in 1902. It is a century-old school with a long history and high reputation.
