Yinchuan Photo

About Yinchuan: Yinchuan City, on the banks of the Yellow River, is the provincial capital of Ningxia Hui Minority Autonomous Region. In 1038 AD, Li Yuanhao (Emperor Jingzong of the Western Xia) founded the Xia Empire. He built his capital on the site of present-day Yinchuan. Today, on the outskirts of Yinchuan, you can find the well-preserved imperial tombs of the Western Xia Mausoleums. This has become one of the most-visited sites in Yinchuan. Yinchuan is also a city completely suffused with Hui ethnic style and culture. There are numerous mosques throughout the city. You can also go to the Helan Mountains, where it is possible not only to enjoy the beautiful natural landscape but also to take a look at prehistoric cliff paintings dating back to more than 10,000 years ago.
