The main building of the memorial hall is the Memorial Gate of the Surrender. It is in front of the Plaza of the Surrender. The Memorial Gate is known as the "Chinese Arc d'Triomphe." Engraved on the gate are inscriptions of leaders from the Warlord Era such as Chiang Kai-Shek, Li Zongren and He Yingqin along with the phrase "Memorial to the Surrender at the Zhijiang River." The Memorial Hall also houses relics from the Chinese Army's General Commander's Office and He Yingqin's Office. Furniture such as the tables, chairs and couches are original items.
