Liugongdao National Forest Park

Coming to Weihai wouldn't be complete without a visit to Liugong Island. To get here, you must come to the harbor in Weihai and purchase tickets using your ID card or passport. Then take a passenger boat out to the island. The trip across the bay is quite fast, around 20 minutes or so. You can get good views of the other boats, birds and the city behind you. On the island, you can use the tourist buggies to travel around, as it is quite a large place. Here you can go to a museum or can learn about the military history of this area, of which this island is very important. There are other points of interests to see also, including the fortreess, submarine, old buildings and a temple on top of a hill. Overall, you will need a day to do this trip, considering the trip there and back. The best time to come is Spring or Summer, with good weather and calm sea.

Liugong Island National Forest Park is located on Liugong Island, Weihai City, Shandong Province, with an area of more than 4,000 mu, accounting for about three-quarters of the total area of Liugong Island, pleasant climate, with the characteristics of cold spring, cool summer, warm autumn, mild winter and small temperature difference between day and night, is the main scenic spot of Liugong Island. The park has rich animal and plant resources and high geothermal development and utilization rate. The main attractions are Liu Gongquan, Banjiangshi, Tingtaoya, Beicaozui, Beiyang Navy Zhonghu Monument, Liugong Island Expo Park, China Sea Tan, Yingzu Weihaiwei History Museum, Tang Dynasty Wanghai Building, etc. In 2011, it was rated as a national 5A scenic spot.
