I would recommend going there during the week, because weekends are full of citizens and it's hard to get a nice photo without a lot of people on the background. 🤩 That being said, this is a great place if you're interested in photography or architecture. You will also find some cafes, small shops and office spaces. The site of a converted slaughterhouse is now home to handcraft vendors, new restaurants, a cigar store, trinket stalls and book stores. Most people head here to take photos with the old architecture, the slaughterhouse bridges and the stain glass windows. It's easy to reach by metro and taxi and won't take up too much of your day. Around the slaughterhouse are a bunch of converted mills and warehouse ready to be occupied by new stores, restaurants and vendors. I imagine once this area takes off it will be full of vintage stores, photography outlets and restaurants. For now it's a cool place to explore with lots of history and take cool pics.

It’s fun to hang out and take photos here, also there are a few cats roaming the area happy to join with a photo. Many Chinese visit here as it’s a good place for fashion shoots with the basic and bare backgrounds. Expect to wait a few minutes to take shots in some places. Just 10 minutes walk away, you will find a Friends Cafe. This is entirely designed on the TV show and has episodes playing in the cafe area. The poured-concrete structures once housed the Shanghai Municipal Council Slaughterhouse, the largest slaughterhouse in Shanghai at the time. It’s also the shooting site for various Chinese movies/tvs like Tiny Times, Running man. You can experience immediate cold or the difference of temperature as soon as you enter the building.
