The Great Solar System Adventure
Join showman extraordinaire “The Great Schiaparelli” as he takes the audience on a death-defying space-time adventure within his wondrous Observatorium.
From the sun-scorched surface of Mercury to the icy expanses of Pluto and beyond, prepare to be subjected to the myriad dangers and wonders of our Solar System, on a breathtaking tour that reveals just how precious our home planet really is.
Be warned though, the Observatorium isn’t just for show. It will transport the audience right to the heart of some of the deadliest locations in our slice of the heavens. It’s going to take some fancy flying to get everyone back in one piece!

Hike through Canadian History on McNabs Island!
Sunday July 13, 2025 - 9:30-4:00
Departure Location: Eastern Passage
: Meet at A&M Sea Charters, 87 Government Wharf Rd, Fisherman's Cove no later than 9:15 AM. The boat will depart promptly at 9:30 AM and leave the island at 4:00 PM to return to Eastern Passage by 4:30 PM.
Join the Friends of McNabs Island for a guided hike
through Canadian history in the
SOUTH END of McNabs Island
! Learn about the important role McNabs Island played for the Mi’kmaq First Nations, the early French settlers, and the British, who built several forts on the island to protect the Port of Halifax.
Visit the grounds of the
McNab Family Homestead, the McNab Family Cemetery and Fort McNab National Historic Site
. You will also have a chance to visit the
Teahouse Outdoor Education Centre
located in the restored
English Victorian Gardens
. After the tour, stroll along the beach and watch the tide fall.
Dress for the weather and island environment. Wear sturdy sneakers or hiking boots. The island's trails are rough in some places because storms have washed rocks up onto the trails.
Visitors should expect to walk at least 7-10 km on this hike.
Bring sunscreen, sunhats, insect repellent that repels ticks, plenty of drinking water, and a lunch. Dogs are permitted but they must be on leash at all times. Smoking tobacco or cannabis and the consumption of alcohol are prohibited in the provincial park.
Everyone must get their tickets in advance.
Tickets are also needed for babies and toddlers 3 years and younger, who will travel for free, courtesy of the Friends of McNabs Island.
There is NO rain date and there are NO refunds. However, in the event of heavy rain or gale force winds, OR if the park is closed, the tour will be cancelled and tickets refunded.
Cost:
$30 (members of the Friends of McNabs Island), $20 (children/youth under 16), $40 (non-members). Babies and toddlers 3 years and younger are free but need a ticket.

All About Sharks! | Market Hall

As part of Shark Month, schools can enjoy two very special talks all about sharks from dive instructor, professional underwater photographer/videographer and author Caroline Roberston-Brown.
Caroline will demonstrate the equipment she uses to shoot images and video underwater, including dive kit and cameras, talk about what it is like to dive with sharks including Caribbean Reef Sharks, Manta Rays and Hammerhead - and explore how amazing sharks are!
The talk will also feature some stunning 360 underwater footage of sharks captured as part of a Real Immersive/Shark Trust film currently in production, A Shark's Story.
As a member of the Shark Trust team, Caroline will also chat about the trust, what it does and why that work is so important.
