Taking place at the Savannah African Art Museum, this workshop series aims to creatively commemorate the season in unique ways. On December 9th from 11am to 1pm, visitors can participate in the "Creating a Kinara for Your Kwanzaa Celebration" workshop held in the museum's garden/courtyard area on the second floor of the Terracotta Gallery. The African American celebration of Kwanzaa, occurring from December 26th to January 1st, is rooted in the traditional African Harvest celebration known as "First Fruits." Dr. Maulana Karenga established this event in 1966 as a means to honor African American heritage, achievements, and cultural ideals.
