Jason Salmon is a Texas born, NYC based standup whose comedy has been described as “…like getting the best advice you’ve ever gotten…from the dumbest guy you know.”He’s headlined all over the world including performing for the troops in Europe, South America, & Afghanistan.His standup specials have gotten millions of views online and he had one of the top 10 Drybar Standup specials of 2022.His most recent special, Biscuits and Gravity is available now on YouTube.
He’s been featured in Red Dead Redemption 2, Orange is the New Black, At Home with Amy Sedaris, Hulu’s Wu Tang Clan Series, & 30 Rock, as well as tons of commercials and his series of Cowboy Explains videos with Comedy Central.

The Natural History and Ecology of Fungi: From Parasitism to Symbiosis

Come learn about the biology and natural history of fungi in the Southeast and beyond. This talk will highlight the interconnections between fungi, animals, and plants. Todd will also discuss some of the region's best edible species along with where and how to find and identify them.
Todd Elliott’s
studies in biodiversity and interrelationships in nature have taken him to remote corners of the world to explore tropical rainforests, deserts, temperate forests, beaches, and high mountains on six continents. He is particularly interested in edible and medicinal mushrooms and plants and their importance to humans. Todd is an author of the Timber Press field guide Mushrooms of the Southeast and has published academic literature on various aspects of ecology and taxonomy. Todd received his undergraduate degree in interpretive natural history from Warren Wilson College (USA) and his PhD in ecology from the University of New England (Australia). He enjoys sharing his research and knowledge of the natural world through presentations, workshops, and consultations for many different organizations in the US and abroad. Women’s Day Golf Tournament
hosted at the historic Omni Grove Park Inn & Spa and be entered to win a free night stay with breakfast and golf. In honor of
Women's Golf Day
—a global movement that celebrates girls and women playing golf and learning skills that last a lifetime—this event invites golfers of all skill levels to come together for a day of connection and community on the green.
The day begins with player registration at the Pro Shop, followed by a warm welcome and call to carts at 8:30 a.m. The tournament kicks off with a shotgun start on our historic course. After the round, players will gather at the Country Club for a celebratory lunch and to visit with vendors before the announcement of tournament winners and the raffle drawing.
Raffle winner must have played in the Women’s Golf Day Tournament. If under 18, winner must have a parent or legal guardian who can receive on her behalf.
The tournament will be held on the renowned Golf Course at The Omni Grove Park Inn & Spa, originally designed by the legendary Donald Ross in 1926. This par-70 course masterfully incorporates the rolling terrain of the Blue Ridge Mountains, offering both challenging play and breathtaking vistas. Over the years, the course has welcomed golfing greats such as Bobby Jones, Ben Hogan, and Jack Nicklaus, as well as notable figures like President Barack Obama.
Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or new to the game, this is your chance to be part of something special. Celebrate the legacy of women in golf while enjoying a memorable day of sport, scenic beauty, and community at one of the South’s most iconic destinations.

Join us on this birding walk around the NC Arboretum gardens and trails in search of our most colorful residents. We will go over best practices for using binoculars, recommendations for purchasing your own binoculars, and popular field guides to use. Bring your own binoculars but if you do not have a pair we have some loaner binoculars available to use during the program.
This program will take place outside and will follow easy trails and paved walkways. Dress for the weather and prepare to be outside for the entire program time.
Jonathan Marchal
has led outdoor ecology and recreation programming for over twenty years for youth and adults, and serves as Director of Education at the Arboretum and is the creator of ecoEXPLORE, a youth citizen science initiative. He has prior work experience with the National Park System, North Carolina State Parks and Trout Unlimited. He is an award winning, certified environmental educator and has served as the president of the Environmental Educators of North Carolina. Jonathan holds an AAS in Recreation and Wildlife Management, a BA in Ecology and a Master’s Degree in Park, Recreation and Tourism Management.

At $30 a night, be swept away into a grand story spanning four sessions and two months, where you will level up and progress with the same character, friends, and enemies across one epic adventure!

We will provide everything you need to play: dice, pencils, and character sheets. No preparation or experience required!
You can also bring your own characters. Characters will begin at 12th level and there are no special character restrictions. Ages 15 and up. Price is for the entire campaign in one package, no refunds for missed sessions will be available.
