KreisverChor. Stimmoffensive Rundgänge um den Moritzplatz | CLB, Aufbau Haus am Moritzplatz, Berlin-Kreuzberg

Berlin

Fine Art

About Resistance: Research group for the devised play The Little Black Fish | with the rubbles of old palaces

Nov 17, 2024 (UTC+1)ENDED
Berlin
Arts
Theater
Reading and research group for the devised play THE LITTLE BLACK FISH organised by Aline Suter, Caroline Canzler & Peri Nuranikhoshkhow Resistance – made up of the Latin prefix re- (meaning against ) and sistere (meaning to stand ) – is a concept that hasn’t played a major role in German public discourse for quite some time. Resistance might come up briefly in history class, whether in connection with the anti-fascist struggles in Europe or the Vietnam War. But while institutions and media often look back nostalgically at historical political resistance, praising the courage and dedication of those involved, current resistance movements are demonised, and their supporters are marginalised. Over the past year, we’ve seen this dynamic play out again in Germany. In our discussion group, we aim to critically engage with international anti-fascist, anti-imperialist, anti-capitalist, and anti-colonial resistance groups. Together, we will research, discuss, and share ideas – without romanticising or demonising any of these movements. What are the things we need to resist? What does it mean to resist? Where does resistance begin, and where does it end? What parallels can we find among movements around the world, and what kinds of international solidarity emerge? What drives people to go against the grain, despite all the dangers? “What is the value of life or death for life itself?” – wonders the little black fish. At the heart of our discussion is the Iranian literary fairy tale The Little Black Fish – written in the 1960s by the writer, folklorist, and teacher Samad Behrangi. This story serves as an allegory for resistance and the quest for a better world. It’s considered one of the most significant political works of art in 20th-century Iran. Using this tale as our foundation, we will explore resistance movements in places like Palestine, Sudan, and Chile – looking at their similarities and differences, and asking ourselves what lessons we can draw from them. Our discussion sessions will eventually lead to the development of a theatre piece on the same theme, with the fairy tale as the thread that ties it all together, woven with international songs of resistance. DATES: November 3rd, 14-19pm: Freedom! November 17th, 14-19pm December 1st, 14-19pm December 15th, 14-19pm LANGUAGES: German, English REQUIREMENTS: We would like to ask you to read read the play in its entirety in preparation for the meetings. We will only ever read excerpts at the individual meetings. LOCATION: with the rubbles of old palaces, 14 Großbeerenstr., 10963 Berlin We apologise, for “with the rubbles of old palaces” currently not being wheelchair accessible. Please contact us with any accessibility questions, we will try to accommodate as best as possible. Trading in Intimacy Artist Panel Talk21st Nov, 19:00, Salon am Moritzplatz At the mercy of a global art market cultivated by late stage capitalism, do emerging creatives really stand a chance? Who holds the power to create a viable future for artists, and what needs to change for true creativity to reclaim its societal value? In a discussion moderated by arts writer Madeleine Pollard, artist Alexander Vinther-Burroughs, photographer Javier Alejandro Cerrada, artist and illustrator Marie Cloppenburg and writer, artist and astrologer Randon Rosenbohm will explore the plethora of ways in which creative industries and the current economic climate force individuals to sell themselves in attempts to sustain lifestyles that can facilitate creativity — and whether this is in fact possible at all. This event is free to attend and forms part of A Currency of Intimacy — a group exhibition curated by MV-B, on display at Salon am Moritzplatz 19th Nov - 1st Dec 2024. The exhibition will explore interpretations of intimacy as the currency artists are forced to trade in order to achieve success. About the speakers: Madeleine Pollard is a Berlin-based writer and journalist. She covers art and photography, with a focus on stories surrounding identity, intimacy, community, fantasy, and archival imagery. Her work has been featured in Dazed, i-D, AnOther, British Journal of Photography, Office Magazine, Elephant Magazine, and FT Weekend, among others. Alexander Vinther-Burroughs is a Danish artist based in Berlin, Germany. His practice is rooted in an agenda of autonomy that sees him approach each series as an opportunity to forge a new canvas for his artistic language. He also works in production and concept development at Studio Jeppe Hein. Javier Alejandro Cerrada is a Venezuelan photographer based in Berlin. He also works as an image developer at One Hundred Berlin GmbH. Marie Cloppenburg is a contemporary artist based in Berlin. Born and raised in northern Germany, she specialises in painting, illustration, and sculpture, blending a childlike, naive view of her surroundings with an urban zeitgeist. Randon Rosenbohm is a writer, artist, and professional astrologer born in New Orleans, living in Berlin since 2018. Common themes of her artworks include post-feminist morality and spirituality. She writes about mysticism, goings-on, and astrology ethics on her newsletter/blog Good Horoscope goodhoroscope.de Photo credits: Madeleine Pollard by @jojo.caitlin Alexander Vinther-Burroughs by @blakehattie Marie Cloppenburg by @mezdumas Information Source: MV-B | eventbrite

With the Retrospective in the Neue Nationalgalerie, a comprehensive insight into the work of Nan Goldin from 1980 to the present day is given for the first time. Her individual series of works will be shown in the form of slide shows and films in pavilions designed by Hala Wardé in the upper hall of the Neue Nationalgalerie – each of these “buildings” is conceived in relation to the respective series of works; together they form a kind of village. After the opening in Stockholm and Amsterdam, the exhibition will now be shown in Berlin and will travel to Milan and Paris.

Ulrich Erben: Shadow in Light | Galerie Bastian

Berlin
展覽
The gallery exhibits new paintings by Ulrich Erben. The artist, who lives and works in Düsseldorf, is one of the most important pioneers of abstract painting in Europe. His early works, characterised by his exploration of landscapes of the Lower Rhine and in Italy, lead to an exploration of the relationships and interactions between colour, light, tone and harmony. In Erben’s work, landscape becomes a “vessel of memory”. The perceptibility of space can be seen as another central theme in the artist’s work. Erben opens up monochrome colour spaces, some of which are reduced to the absolute neutrality of white.

Line-up: TBA ! ! Our weekend shows have been SOLD OUT almost every time, so PLEASE book online and don't take chances ;) !! Neukölln’s favorite (by popular vote) comedy club East-West Comedy presents the brand new, topical show about diverse and hilarious family experiences! We all know the real F-word, don’t we? We get F-d up early in life, and deal with it for pretty much the rest of the damn thing. F stands for Family , obviously: what else can be as frustrating, ridiculous, yet daringly important as our family stories and histories? Join 4 headliner* level comedians from all over the world in their (and yours) hilarious quests for meaning: why do we keep repeating the same patterns? Why do we crave approval? And how many Grandma’s pies (turkeys? naan? hummus? borscht?) can we eat at a family dinner before having a heart attack? *headliner-level comedians are professional comedians who regularly headline different comedy clubs with 20-30 minute performance, and often go on tour their own 60-90 minute solo shows. Google rating (170+ reviews): 5.0 / 5.0 ★★★★★ “Laughed a lot, will come again for sure” Oliver, UK ★★★★★ “A cozy place with high quality live comedy!” Joanna, Hong Kong ★★★★★ “Great comedy show, talented comics and very nice atmosphere” Mariia, Ukraine ★★★★★ “Comedians were good, beer was good, ambiance was super nice!” Gaelle, Lebanon ★★★★★ “The humour hit us right on the spot!” Eve, China ★★★★★ “Perfect evening of laughter” Igor, Croatia ★★★★★ “Cozy stand-up venue with hilarious international artists and audience!” Elvira, Russia ★★★★★ “Great new shows at one of Berlin’s coolest venues!” James, USA Doors: 7:00 PM Show: 7:30-9:30 PM Entry: Pay What You Want* (seat reservation required): you reserve your seat for free, and Pay What You Want at the end of the show, depending on how much you think the show is worth (recommended fee: €10-15).
