Cluck Off - A Hot Wing Competition from Ray Rays + Black Cap | Land-Grant Brewing Company
May 14, 2025 (UTC-4)ENDED
Columbus
Think you’ve got what it takes to conquer the hottest wings in town?
It’s time to put yourself through the hot wing gauntlet at
Ray Ray’s Cluck Off
,
sponsored by our friends at
Black Cap Hot Sauce
!
This isn’t your average wing competition — it’s a culinary experience featuring the legendary smoked wings from Ray Ray's and the bold flavors of Black Cap Hot Sauce and, of course, the tasty beers at Land Grant Brewing.
We're all about flavor, so you know they are gonna taste good (while they are burning you up).
Ticket purchasers will be the ones to beat the heat, eating as many spicy chicken wings as they can handle! Onlookers are welcome, but this will be a standing-room-only event unless you're taking on the challenge.
How it works:
Competitors will face a series of 10 wings that get hotter with every round. Wings will be served one at a time and you can tap out whenever you want.
If you manage to claw your way to the spiciest level without faltering (or rubbing your eyes, touching your *#$^, etc.), it's now your time to shine. You + everyone else remaining at this point now trade blows as you each finish additional, super Scoville'd wings, one after the other until the last one stands.
Once you tap out, complimentary Jeni’s ice cream and milk will be available for all participants to bring sweet relief after the heat. Of course, there will also be plenty of cold beer available from our hosts, Land Grant Brewing.
Last person standing wins! Not only do you receive a trophy and bragging rights, but you also earn the title of Ray Ray's x Black Cap's Baddest Mother Clucker!

This in-person event is the perfect opportunity to unwind and rejuvenate your mind, body, and soul. Don't miss out on this unique and restorative experience!
Acupuncture is a healing practice from Traditional Chinese Medicine that involves gently inserting very thin needles into specific points on the body to help restore balance, reduce pain, and support overall well-being. It works by improving the flow of energy, or Qi (pronounced "chee"), and helping the body heal naturally.
Combined with sound bath and meditation, you will receive a deeply relaxing healing experience. The acupuncture helps balance your energy and release tension in the body, while the sound bath—using instruments like crystal bowls —creates soothing vibrations that calm the nervous system. Meditation brings focus and inner peace. Together, they support physical, emotional, and energetic well-being in a powerful and gentle way.

STEPZ Workshop for Planning Staff | Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission
May 20, 2025 (UTC-4)ENDED
Columbus
STEPZ connects Central Ohio’s planning community with the skills and insights needed to lead through change and shape the region’s future.
The Central Ohio region is experiencing rapid growth and change. As development accelerates, it is essential that both
planning staff and elected officials
are equipped with the tools and knowledge to guide their communities effectively. At the same time, as experienced Department Staff, Administrators, Planning Commission Members, and Board of Zoning Appeals Members leave their roles, new personnel are stepping in — often learning complex procedures, protocols, and best practices on the job.
To minimize the transitional challenges that come with this turnover,
STEPZ
offers a
semi-annual workshop series
that provides planning staff and officials at all experience levels with consistent, high-quality training to help them better serve their communities and make informed decisions.
At STEPZ, our goal is to build a stronger, more confident planning community across Central Ohio — one that’s ready to meet today’s challenges and shape the region’s future with knowledge, professionalism, and collaboration.
The second iteration of STEPZ Workshop will take place on
Tuesday, May 20th
. This focused half-day session is designed specifically for planning staff to strengthen their understanding of zoning processes, development challenges, and strategic growth management.
If you’re a member of a planning department — whether serving a township, village, or a city — join us to deepen your expertise, sharpen your skills, and connect with planning professionals from across Central Ohio.
KEY TAKEAWAYS:
Led by experts in the field, the workshop will offer a series of engaging discussions covering critical topics, including:
Best practices in
site planning
Sustainability strategies
for building resilient communities
Planning for
EV charging infrastructure
Ethics and legalities
to keep in mind while making planning decisions
Effective techniques for
public engagement
Participants will gain practical insights and tools they can apply directly to their daily work, helping to ensure that planning processes are informed, defensible, and responsive to the evolving needs of Central Ohio communities.
For questions, contact Tunazzina Alam at talam@morpc.org.

Ride of Silence Columbus 2025 | Our Lady of Peace School
May 21, 2025 (UTC-4)ENDED
Columbus
This is the
23rd year
for the Ride of Silence.
This year, we will be reading the names of the cyclists who were killed on Ohio roads in 2024 along with names submitted by registered riders who were killed in any year.
With this annual ride—a short, slow and silent processional —hundreds of Central Ohio cyclists join an international movement to honor cyclists killed or injured while riding on public roadways and raise awareness that cyclists have a legal right to the road. The ride is a short, slow and silent funeral-style processional that attracts hundreds of cyclists from all corners of our community.
The route for 2025 will be 10-12 miles in length. All riders will stay together, two abreast and completely silent during the ride. We are required to get a parade permit from the City of Columbus and to have police escorts which allow us to stay together through traffic lights.
Helmets are required!
Johnny Velo Bikes
will have a mechanic on site should you need any last minute assistance with your bike. But, please make sure to look it over a few days prior to the ride to ensure it's in good working order.
Riders will begin gathering at 5:30 pm. There will be a short program including a reading of the names at 6:30 pm. The ride will roll at 7:00 p.m. It's a 10-12 mile route that should take a little over an hour to complete.
There is no cost to participate, but we do ask you to register for safety and planning purposes.
Special thanks to our new sponsor
Burgess & Niple
! We appreciate their support of this event.
Donations are greatly appreciated! Costs for this event, including rider insurance, parade permit and police escorts, are approximately $3,500. All donations and proceeds from the sale of t-shirts will be used exclusively for the current and future Ride of Silence events in Columbus.
We encourage you to ride to the event, but if you're driving, parking will be available at the school and on surrounding side streets and parking lots.
