Grab a drink, join our topical trivia round, and then sit back to hear our expert share their knowledge in our intimate gathering. Audience interaction and questions are encouraged as we all grow in our understandings together.
This month we learn the roots of the right to privacy in the United States, how the roots have eroded, what remains of your rights, and what you can do about it. Acquire confidence and knowledge about your rights in order to help yourself and those close to you navigate a hazardous privacy landscape. Become an involved and informed conversation leader on the importance of civil rights. Decode strategies used to convince people to give up their rights and peek behind the curtain of the justice system to understand the competing interests that exert an eternal tug-of-war on the civil liberties that keep all of us safe.
Speaker Bio: Ben Tracy is a former civil rights attorney, a former senior judicial attorney to the Ohio Supreme Court, and is currently an appellate prosecutor and local politician. He is well into his second decade litigating civil rights and constitutional law topics and holds degrees from Exeter, Brown University, and the University of Virginia School of Law.

Grant Starrett on the Size and Funding of Government | The Athletic Club of Columbus
Apr 25, 2025 (UTC-4)ENDED
Columbus
Coming off the highest inflation in decades, Grant Starrett revisits the Founders' views on sound money, how they gave those views power in the Constitution with the explicit intent to limit the size of government, how we abandoned the original meaning (as we have with so many other clauses), and how we should think about the future. If you're wondering how the federal government got so big, there really are two answers: that we abandoned the original meaning of the Constitution and the federal government rearranged its own financing. As Grant reveals, the two are intricately related.
