Details
Join us on Saturday, May 17th from 1 PM - 4 PM as we create upcycled bread boxes to add a splash of color and style to your kitchen space! All experience levels are welcome to participate.
Learn to paint on fabric!
In this 3-hour workshop, you will design, paint, transfers, stencils, and decoupage your own take-home bread box using upcycling skills, which you can then apply to any piece of furniture, using resin paint, decoupage, stenciling, and finishing off with gilding wax. A new, unused bread box will be provided with your workshop fee (See box details and dimensions below), and a thoughtfully curated assortment of multiple decoupage papers and stencils to choose from for application inside and outside of the bread box. We'll be using Rethunk Junk by Laura® Furniture and Cabinet paint, which is an all-in-one acrylic paint that's infused with resin for added durability on your furniture makeover. No priming, sanding, or waxing required. Rethunk Junk by Laura® provides a buttery-smooth, satin finish. Water-based. Low VOC. This paint is safe to use on the inside of the bread boxes and be in contact w/bread, as it dries to a hard finish (unlike chalk paint which needs wax to seal in the color and would not be ideal for food contact). Three shades of furniture wax will be available to add depth and dimension: dark/antique, black, and white. Gold and silver gilding wax will be available to choose from to add extra brilliance and pizzaz. Aftercare: Learn the importance of letting your gilding wax finish cure, and how to care for and maintain your finished piece once you get it home.
This class is all about artistic free expression. There is no wrong way to complete this fun art project. The skills learned in this workshop can be applied to any piece of furniture you want to give new life through upcycling. We love furniture art and are excited to share these skills and experiences with you!

Elise Paschen | Blood Wolf Moon | The King's English Bookshop
May 17, 2025 (UTC-7)ENDED
Salt Lake City
Join Indigenous poet, Elise Paschen for a reading and signing from her new book of poetry, Blood Wolf Moon. This event is open to the public. Tickets are $5. Copies of the book will be available to purchase at the event. You may also pre-order your copy of Blood Wolf Moon to pick up at the event by either calling the store at 801-484-9100 or ordering online. If you cannot make this event, signed copies of Blood Wolf Moon may be ordered from our website. Please specify in the comments if you would like your copy personalized. Places in the signing line are reserved for those who purchase a copy from The King's English. About the Book: In her riveting sixth poetry collection, Blood Wolf Moon, Elise Paschen explores the story lines of her Osage heritage. The core of the book grapples with a dark period of American history, “The Reign of Terror,” when outsiders murdered individual members of the Osage for their oil headrights. Paschen searches her cultural past and family history in poems about the land, ancestors, childhood, loss, nature, transformation, flight, and language. In this cinematic book, she builds drama in overlapping narratives, reinventing ways to approach the line on the page. Described by poet Timothy Donnelly as “one of today’s most formally astute poets,” Paschen opens Blood Wolf Moon with the long poem, “Heritage,” a bracelet of crown poems, then shifts registers to formal poems and prose sequences. Poet and editor Esther Belin calls the concluding poems with their use of Osage language, “significant leaps into literary sovereignty.” Blood Wolf Moon captivates with its emotional intensity and unrelenting quest for the translation of identity. It’s a book you can’t put down.
