Phase 1 of the 8 Elements of Belly Dance, taking place in September 2023 with renowned dancer Rachel Brice, focuses on the essential aspects of belly dance technique, practice, musicality, vocabulary development, and improvisation. This in-person event at Datura in Portland offers an opportunity for dancers of all levels to strengthen their foundation in belly dance. While no prior experience is required, we recommend at least 1 year of dance experience for those interested in Phase 1. The schedule includes daily classes from Monday to Friday, with a lunch break at 1pm. On Saturday, the final day, there will be a discussion and assessment from 10am to 1pm, followed by a break from 1pm to 4pm. An optional signing session will take place from 4pm to 5pm, and the day will conclude with a Hafla from 5pm to 7pm. Please note that the schedule is subject to change.
