Join us for a creative in-person life drawing class at the Fentiman Arms, Oval. Chilled n cosy life life drawing classes where you can sketch n get some pub drinks too!
There's no formal instruction - so no pressure - all levels of drawers are welcome and it really doesn’t matter how good (or bad) at drawing you are. The aim is to do something creative, and if you get a bit better at drawing, that's a bonus :)
We will provide basic drawing materials such as paper, pencils, drawing boards, and charcoal etc, but if you wish to bring your own drawing equipment (such as a sketchbook, paints, colour pencils or any other medium) or want anything a bit more advanced please feel free to bring these along.
Tickets are only available online and so you will need to have booked a ticket before you arrive.

Writer, wanderer and essayist Adam Scovell returns to Foyles to mark the release of Local Haunts, a collection of his luminous non-fiction from the last decade. Described as ‘one of the most interesting and original young British writers about landscape’ by Robert McFarlane, Adam Scovell is a singular voice in the British psychogeography scene. He will be exploring his curiosities and preoccupations in a conversation at Foyles to mark the release of a selection of his writings on place, art and culture. Adam Scovell is a writer and filmmaker from Merseyside, now living in London. He completed his PhD in Music at Goldsmiths University in 2018, and now writes regularly for the BBC, the BFI and many other outlets. He is the author of Folk Horror: Hours Dreadful and Things Strange (2017, Auteur), alongside three novels all published by Influx Press. Dr Matthew Green is a historian, writer and broadcaster. He has appeared in documentaries on the BBC, ITV and Channel 4, and has written historical features for the Guardian and Financial Times. He is the founder of Unreal City Audio, which produces immersive tours of London as live events, podcasts and apps. He is the author of Shadowlands: A Journey Through Lost Britain.

For those who want to expand their skills in a certain area, you can dip in where you feel necessary. We run 202 with 4 classes at a time, each an individual core topic. They are standalone themes, and of course, we think they're all equally important!
Together in this series we will explore the skills of improv at a deeper level. We'll look at specific applications and play with differing concepts, to strengthen your improv tool belt.
This is a supportive and fun environment where you can relax into silliness! Each class will include games and exercises to get us feeling loose and inspire fun, and then dive us into the topic of the day. You will be on your feet, active, trying and playing - laughs are guaranteed! Core Topics: CharactersStorytellingListeningTeamworkAbout the Characters workshop: We'll cover a variety of techniques and exercises designed to help participants develop rich, dynamic characters for improvisational performance. This will include physicality, voice, emotions and status. We will explore how to create believable characters and integrate character relationships.
About the Storytelling workshop:
This workshop focuses on a mixture advanced storytelling techniques. Expand your improv skills by exploring techniques like character arcs, scene building, and emotional depth. Take your improv to the next level by crafting compelling narratives and developing nuances and inviting intrigue.
About the Listening workshop:
Sometimes we're waiting to speak, instead of truly listening to our fellow player. In this class we'll tune in to our scene partners and build stronger connections through active listening. Create richer, more dynamic scenes with focused listening through every line of your scene. About the Teamwork workshop:
This workshop is designed to enhance the collaborative skills of participants, emphasizing the importance of working together effectively in improvisational settings. We'll cover various aspects of teamwork, communication, and support in improv. Pre-requisites:
