Creative Walk Works | Market Place
Jun 25, 2025 (UTC+0)ENDED
Reading
Join Walk Works for a creative jaunt about town, highlighting some of Reading's arty, and iconic landmarks. Starting in Market Place, right next to the Simeon Monument, we will visit Queen Victoria before walking through Harris Arcade, an elegant art deco gem and treasure trove with independent and specialist shops. We will stop at newly developed Station Hill to marvel at the 51 metre colourful LED mural by Stuart Melrose and Kev Munday, packed full or references to people, landmarks and events based in Reading. We will walk through Friar's Walk and pause at the two sculptures, Pivotal and Seed before continuing through Smelly Alley and on to meet Paddington Bear, sitting on a bench in Broad Street. Our route continues past The Hexagon theatre, and over to Chatham Place where there are arty plaques along the walls, telling some of the stories of Reading. Passing Rise Bakehouse, and crossing the Oxford Rd we carry on over to the fantastic Holy Brook Nook Mural, one of a few in Reading created by Commando Jugendstil and painted by the community. We can enjoy reading the beautifully colourful information boards that line the walkway, before heading out onto the canal, and back via the Armoured Heart sculpture along the Riverside. Meet 12.25, for 12.30 depart.
