Summer Nights Walk 2024 is a delightful 10km walk that will take you on a journey through the historical landmarks of Newmarket. This year, the walk will also showcase the famous training grounds that make Newmarket so special. For those who have participated in the walk before, there is an exciting new route for you to explore and appreciate the picturesque landscape of Newmarket. By joining this event, you will not only have a great time but also contribute to the important causes and organizations that support the Newmarket area. The walk will commence at The Severals, with registration opening at 5:30 pm and a warm-up session at 6:45 pm. The walk itself will begin at 7 pm. To take advantage of the early bird registration fee of £15 per person, make sure to register before May 1st, 2024. After that date, the registration fee will be £20 per person. Online registration will close on June 7th, 2024. It's important to note that anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a walking adult. Your registration fee includes several benefits such as entry to the Summer Nights Walk, a t-shirt and cap to collect on the night, water and a snack, and a medal upon completion. Please be aware that all entries booked online are non-refundable. To learn more about the terms and conditions of the event, visit our website. Before participating in the walk, it's important to plan ahead. The 10km walk typically takes between 90 minutes to 2 hours to complete, so make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes that you've already trained in. Feel free to get creative with your accessories and dress up for the event. Anything that glows in the dark or involves face painting is highly encouraged. Parking is not available at The Severals, but there are two public car parks nearby - Rous Road and the Guineas car park. As for what to wear, we suggest breathable and waterproof clothing, as the weather can get chilly overnight. Keep in mind that there are no changing rooms or storage facilities on-site, so only bring essential items that you can carry with you. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a lead at all times, and it is the walker's responsibility to clean up after their dog. During the walk, there will be marshals available along the route to provide assistance if needed. First aiders will also be present to address any medical concerns. Additionally, there will be a small selection of refreshments available at the starting point. Spectators are more than welcome to join and support the participants along the route. Angel Heung Piano Recital Angel began her official piano training with her mother, concert pianist Dr Joanna Li in the UK four years ago. She began participating in national piano competitions in Toronto and won nine First Place at Level 8-10 in 2023-2024. Thanks to her present teacher from Royal Conservatory of Music, Dr Michael Berkovsky, Angel is reaching to the next stage of piano performance. She has been recognized by five jury members with 99/100 and won the Absolute First Prize in Amadeus International Piano Competition in Italy in 2024. Angel was also the youngest participant, winning the Second Prize in a bi-annual international competition in Austria – Takacs International Piano Competition in 2024. As a 10 year old Angel has already attended master classes with international leading piano professors like Austrian pianist Cornelia Herrmann (Winner of the International Bach Competition in Leipzig, Germany) and Maestro Piotr Paleczny (Jury and Winner of International Chopin Competition in Warsaw, Poland). This is Angel’s first fundraising solo recital in Trinity United Newmarket, followed by her first tour in Italy in 2026, as well as she will be playing a piano concerto with the York Chamber Ensemble in 2026-2027 Series. Angel was born in Hong Kong and lived in the UK and now resides in Toronto. She is planning to learn to play the organ in the near future. Blackpink is one of her favorite K-pop music lists. Angel also enjoys playing the violin, cross-country running, painting and reading, especially books by J.K Rowling (Harry Potter), Enid Blyton and C.S Lewis. Angel is honoured to perform this fundraising recital and share her passion in music to the audience on April 27.
