As many as 200,000 people in the UK may be at risk of discrimination due to their perceived 'caste'. But unlike discrimination based on race, sex, sexuality or religion or belief, caste discrimination is not explicitly prohibited in UK law. In this event, a panel of experts and campaigners against caste discrimination will explain what caste is, how caste discrimination and prejudice affect the lives of people in the UK, and why laws against caste discrimination have faced barriers from some religious groups. This event will also explore how we can work to end the very concept of 'caste'. This covers safeguarding for children from birth until their 18th birthday. Session Aim: This course will provide participants with learning that will help them to meet the Core Competencies of the LLR Safeguarding Children Competency Framework . It is a foundation course for those who are in positions where they may spot safeguarding concerns, or someone may tell them that they are being harmed. When you arrive at Treetop Mini Golf you will be greeted by our friendly professional hosts. Once everyone has arrived and registered we will briefly explain the format of the evening. The ladies will then be asked to make their way to their allocated table. Once the ladies are seated the gentlemen will be asked to proceed to their first date. You will have 4 minutes to chat to each date, once the 4 minutes is over we will ring a bell to indicate the time is up and for the gentlemen to move to their next date. Four minutes is long enough to see if you click with the person you are talking to and whether you would like to see them again and also short enough if you don't.
