Reggae Got Soul - Fundraiser for Empty Kitchens, Full Hearts | Leith Depot
Jun 27, 2025 (UTC+1)
Edinburgh
Empty Kitchens, Full Hearts
“We aim to relieve poverty in Edinburgh by providing meals - made using surplus food - and follow-up support to people across the city, free of charge, and without judgement.
We turn surplus food into healthy meals for those who need them. Since April 2020, we've provided over 2 million meals free of charge.
In its most simple terms, we turn surplus food into nourishing meals for people that need them, free of charge and without judgement. By making our service available to all, without the need to prove need, we reach some of the most marginalised people across Edinburgh.
We believe nourishing food is a basic human right and there should be no barriers to accessing it. Our core service is the delivery of a 'Day Pack', which comprises a day’s worth of nourishing meals. Community volunteers then package these meals ready for delivery across Edinburgh”
Musically REGGAE GOT SOUL will be delivering our unique blend of High Grade Reggae and Top-a-Top Soul on a 60/40 rotation throughout the evening from DJs Jeremiyah and George with the indomitable gLyrical Lion Ras Ista as MC

Family Constellations Day Event Edinburgh | Santosa Café + Wellness Centre
Jun 28, 2025 (UTC+1)
Edinburgh
Whilst there is still an idea of a perpetrator and a victim, we remain trapped.
If you are ready for a new story, one where you stand in your own place, full of power and life force, receiving the gifts of your ancestors and leaving their pain with them, come and join us for a beautiful day of Family Constellations.
Free yourself from unhealthy family dynamics.
Parenting your parent, not belonging, people pleasing, scared of love, sexual abuse, rejection, abandonment, blame, unworthiness, anger, shame, narcissism... the list goes on.
Health issues, relationship issues and financial issues also come as a result of unresolved family stories.
It is often the most obvious relationships that have the biggest impact on us, especially when unseen dynamics are at play. This event helps you to see these patterns and entanglements, so they no longer impact the family system.
The Mother/Father wound must be healed if we are to thrive in our lives. Even if we love our parents, it doesn't mean we are free from their burdens. Are you ready to let go?
For eight years I have watched not only my life and family system changing in ways I couldn't have imagined, but the same for my clients and students. Unbelievable shifts and changes happen so rapidly. I haven't encountered an issue that doesn't link back to the family system. Be it business, health, love etc
Clients report magical outcomes and it all comes from understanding the hidden links within the family system, and releasing them. It's really simple and I'm desperate to share it with everyone I meet, because it changes lives!
This event gives you the option to attend as a "Subject" this means the whole group will work on your family issue, or a "Representative" where you will represent the family members of the "Subject" and work on their issue (which often mirrors your own system and brings a big healing movement for you)
We will also be in small groups so everyone will work briefly on their own issues too
"Subject" tickets cost £180 (usually £240) and the topic can be anything at all you wish to clear in your life. These are limited to 3 people
"Representative" tickets cost £40 (£30 for anyone who has worked with me before)
If you are experiencing financial issues and would like to attend, please contact me to chat
The event runs 10am - 6pm and includes a 1 hour lunch break (there is an excellent cafe on the premises)
Payments can be made directly to avoid website fees (please whatsapp me on 07857089921)
PARKING IS DIFFICULT SO PLEASE ALLOW TIME TO FIND A SPACE
With love and gratitude,

Opening Reception: Wael Shawky | Talbot Rice Gallery
Jun 28, 2025 (UTC+0)
Edinburgh
We are delighted to invite you to theopening reception of our brand-new exhibition Wael Shawky. This event is part of our 50th anniversary celebrations, marking five decades of exhibitions at Talbot Rice Gallery, open to everyone and always free. Wael Shawky’s penetrating film installations explore histories that have shaped our world. Intricately created sets and painted environments become host to exquisitely crafted and costumed characters, who perform versions of history connected to conflicts that continue to rage around us. Across Shawky’s Cabaret Crusades series and the recent Drama 1882 (created for the Egyptian Pavilion at the 60th Venice Biennale in 2024), Shawky reopens the narrative of the series of religious wars known as the Crusades, from an Arab perspective. He also highlights the events leading up to the British occupation of Egypt in 1882, destabilising any singular authority by embracing the irregular, subjective and contradictory accounts that more authentically represent the formation of history. Exhibition preview and reception schedule 2pm – Exhibition preview begins in Talbot Rice Gallery 2:30pm – Reception begins in Playfair Library (access through Talbot Rice Gallery) 3:00pm – Speeches in Playfair Library 4:30pm – Exhibition preview and reception ends Please enter through Talbot Rice Gallery via the West College Street entrance or the South Bridge entrance across the Old College Quad. To ensure artwork safety, we ask that you do not bring any large bags or items with you. There will be a coat check at the downstairs entrance of the gallery for bags, coats and other large items if necessary. Thank you for your understanding.

Jun 29, 2025 (UTC+1)

Unlike many men’s groups that focus on a model of verbal sharing, this experience offers a non-verbal approach to connection and self-expression, using sound, vibration, and deep listening to create deepened connection and deepening bond between participants
Through playful vocal exercises and games drawing from collaborative vocal improvisation movements, resonance exercises, and musical elements, participants will explore the creative and emotional potential of their voices.
The session will weave together techniques from somatic relaxation techniques, global vocal traditions, group chanting, and looped soundscapes, creating a dynamic and immersive experience.
Fireside time and ritual, Instruments, movement, and artistic practices may also be introduced to support creative exploration and deepen the experience. The unique energy of the group will shape the journey, making each session an evolving, co-created experience.

What does the last 100 years of Scottish queer history tell us about where we are today? Are we moving forward, backward, or is the path something entirely different?

Musician, scholar, and priest, the Revd Oliver Brewer-Lennon has a distinguished background in both performance and academic research. His academic work focuses on Gregorian Chant, specialising in the interpretation of medieval notation and its implications for performance. Alongside his research, his theological training has shaped a particular interest in how music functions within worship and religious thought—not only as a historical practice but as something that continues to shape contemporary faith and culture. He has contributed to books on professional development for musicians and the practicalities of working in the classical music industry. Now Rector of St Michael and All Saints, Edinburgh, he continues to explore the intersection of music, theology, and human expression.
…but this I call to mind,
and therefore I have hope:
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases,
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is thy faithfulness.
"The Lord is my portion," says my soul,
"therefore I will hope in him."
The Lord is good to those who wait for him,
to the soul that seeks him.
It is good that one should wait quietly
for the salvation of the Lord.

Stephen’s previous 12-year tenure as Chorus Master of Belfast Philharmonic Choir included a number of world premieres, most significantly James Whitbourn’s The Seven Heavens and Philip Hammond’s Requiem for the Lost Souls of the Titanic, performed exactly 100 years since the liner went down, and further European premieres of both Stuart Scott’s Requiem Brevis, which saw the 100-strong choir separated into eight choirs spaced around the audience, and Christopher Marshall’s Earthsong. Commissions from the BBC have seen his work being performed on BBC Alba and at the Last Night of the Proms, and his pieces feature on several recordings, including with the RSNO Chorus.
