The pace was perfect and I loved the sensory extension…” A lovely atmosphere generated by Jennifer's joy in botanical art and her ability to include and enthuse students I love Jennifer's teaching style very clear, well structured but relaxed, positive, encouraging and informative “Jennifer was awesome, took us through step by step, especially about the observation aspect and construction of the subject, I would go to her classes again.” This class will change how I approach drawing, for the better I discovered that I really enjoyed the act of focused observation… I know that attempting to draw something will make me much better acquainted with my subject’s characteristics. The guide was excellent and I will use that going forward - especially useful for me when trying to articulate what makes a plant different from a somewhat similar variety. Click now to book!

About the Book
“[A] cli-fi fantasy exploring the potential for rage and trauma to break the world.” —
Library Journal
, starred review
“
And the Sky Bled
is already drawing comparisons to the work of N. K. Jemisin and Fonda Lee.”
–Paste Magazine
Amid the chaos of a dying city ruled by colonizers, three rivals—a thief, a slumlord, and an heiress—race to find a hidden cache of magic that will decide the city’s fate.
In the occupied city of Tejomaya, calor
—
a magical fossil fuel—is found only in the blood rains that fall from the sky. While a six-month drought has brought Tejomaya to a desperate standstill, rumors of a secret stash of magic propel three unlikely treasure seekers to risk everything.
Tenacious and street-smart Zain Jatav has been forced to steal calor for her slumlord bosses for years. Finding the magic reserve might be her only key to freedom. But she’ll have to contend with Iravan Khotar, a slumlord himself and an ambitious revolutionary hoping to use the same magic to save his people from the mysterious illness devastating the slums—and to bolster a fight against their oppressors. Meanwhile, heiress Anastasia Drakos leads the ruling council of Tejomaya from the safety of a nearby island. With the hidden magic, she could finally take full control of the city and crush the slums beneath her unyielding fist.
As Zain, Iravan, and Anastasia draw closer to finding the treasure, their paths tangle, and not for the first time—they met before, a decade ago, in a fire that destroyed each of their lives in different ways. Their reunion might bring the already-weakened city to its knees.
Exploring the devastating mechanisms of power, this searing climate fantasy breathes life into a crumbling world hovering on the brink of total destruction.

Daren Culture Event | Auckland
Apr 19, 2025 (UTC+12)ENDED
Auckland
This event will bring participants an unparalleled cultural feast with many highlights and excitement. First of all, the event is based on the concept of "no audience, all protagonists", inviting everyone to wear Hanfu, experience shadow puppetry, play the guqin, write calligraphy, and dance with strangers in a "cultural rhapsody" that combines Chinese and Western cultures. Five major theme areas will let you have fun: in the "Cultural DNA Awakening" area, experience Hanfu, shadow puppetry, traditional rituals and handicrafts; the "Stage Highlight Moment" brings a mix of guzheng and pop dance, and an innovative combination of poetry recitation and folk dance, which will subvert your imagination! The "Parent-Child Discharge Zone" provides families with VR experience, anime games, face painting, balloon twisting and hand-made fun; the "Warm Mutual Aid Station" provides Chinese medicine pulse diagnosis, psychological counseling, electrical appliance repair, and even old clothes mending services; finally, the "Tip of the World Tour" allows you to taste sugar painting, coffee latte art, red wine, tea art and other diverse food cultures. This is a cultural experience trip not to be missed!
