Tourist Attractions in Ahmedabad
Gandhi Ashram: Also known as the Sabarmati Ashram, this carefully preserved riverside complex was home to Mahatma Gandhi and his wife Kasturba Gandhi from 1917 to 1930. This was the epicentre of the Indian freedom movement, and from here Gandhi launched the famous 241-mile Dandi march to protest the taxing of Indian salt to promote sales of British salt to India. Today it is a fascinating open air museum with regular events and talks.
Adalaj Stepwell: 19km from city centre, you’ll find this magnificent five level step well covered in intricate carvings.
