Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay Resort & Spa
4.4/5104 Reviews
My family stayed at Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay Feb 18-Mar 4, 2023. As always we had a wonderful visit at Pueblo Bonito. We are extremely thankful for the wonderful people working so hard to make our vacation relaxing. Melissa and Enrique are very friendly and helpful. Melissa took such good care of us. My son got sick when we were there and she made sure to help us get a doctor. He was feeling better in no time! At the Cordelier, Carmen, Jairo, Claudio, Nahu, Ariel without fail are welcoming and attentive. At the poolside, Felipe was the absolute best. Antonio at the front entrance was a familiar welcoming face who went above and beyond to help us out. The only negatives I have is that the lounge chairs by the poolside are very uncomfortable. It was quite difficult to get out of the chairs. Also, there was one employee, named Idilia, up front in the lobby that was extremely rude. She approached us when we were waiting and started scolding us. It was very unprofessional and I was quite surprised as everyone else at Pueblo Bonito has been so friendly and helpful.
The Palms Resort of Mazatlan
4.2/5103 Reviews
I stayed at The Palms for 7 nights in early November. I have stayed here many times over the years, at least 15 times. I have always given good reviews of my stays. The recent sale of the hotel has brought some changes, not all of them good. They have changed out the lobby furniture, more informal, less classy. The addition of the Panama Restaurant has brought many more people to the property, many who are not staying there. Good for the hotel I'm sure but more crowded for guests seeking tables at the outside restaurant, etc. But my biggest disappointment was that they hosted a wedding on property at the pool that went to 11 o'clock. With live music blaring into everyone's room! I thought the band was done until the wedding party brought up a banda group for the last hour from the beach. I'm sure it was pre-arranged. Oh brother. I can't believe the hotel management thought so little of its guests to allow this kind of noise late into the night. There was no way to sleep during this event in my opinion. I should have complained to the management but did not and that is my fault for not doing so. Maybe they would have given me some consideration on a future stay. I usually stay on weeknights only and this just reinforces that weekends are not for me at The Palms.
Varali Grand Hotel

Stayed 5 nights. The hotel is modern, about a year old, has a good location in the Zona Dorada. In front of the Malecón/boardwalk and the ocean. We had a room with balcony and views of the ocean. Nice Infiniti pool and delicious breakfast. Chambermaids were super friendly and wonderful. Stephanie, at reception, was the best and most accommodating. Comfortable rooms and mattress. Now, the neagatives... 1- Some of the staff, at the restaurant, was not very friendly, except the only lady waitress, who was very friendly and serviceable. 2- There was an extremely loud private party, on Saturday night, at the rooftop. Unfortunately, we were on the 7 th floor, just below the party. The music was EXTREMELY LOUD. The bass made our room vibrate. Even with ear plugs, we could not sleep. Of course, I complained, several times. They offered to move us to a lower floor. No way, Jose!. We had already unpacked for a our five night stay. The party was supposed to end at 12 midnight. It enredadera @ 1:30 am. Unacceptable and NIGHTMARERISH!. 3- There are no chairs in the balcony. You go to the pool as there is no place to hang and dry your bathing suits. 4- Although they provide a coffee maker in the room, they leave complimentary coffee, the first day. After, you have to pay for it. Does not make any sense to us. 5- The same with bottle water. Complimentary on the first night. Then, you are on your own. You pay the same hotel fee every night. Provide coffee and water nightly. Get your act together. You will still get the local tourist but FORGET about guests from foreign countries.
Las Flores Beach Resort

Older resort, but clean had everything we needed. beach is very nice, not to many people, except on Cruise Ship days (cruise ship passengers are welcome here) very busy on these days. Staff - my experience mostly good, except a security guard Damien.. he came at us very angry waving his hands yelling at us, he was speaking in spanish (i know its the language there) but i had no idea what he was yelling about. As luck has it a lady and her husband helped with translation. The issue was my pool bag was open and laying on top of my stuff was a bag of nachoes (apparently not allowed on pool deck, i was never told this when checked in or any time during my stay) We were in hot tub when this all started, no where near my bag, and no one was eating the nachoes. we had just came up from the beach. My frustration, Why was Damien looking in my bag in the first place? Why did he not get a staff member that i could communicate with and simply tell us that nachoes was not allowed on pool deck? Why did he get so angry and make me feel like i had done something criminal? I did go to front desk and report, someone did talk to me and assure me that this would not happen again, and it didnt. The front desk did also tell me that the next morning i would get a call from the manager, but that did not happen. Damien ignored me for the rest of our stay. I am not a rule breaker, and i am not a complainer but this did have an impact on the rest of my stay, i was on edge and nervous that he would approach me in this manner again. The rest of the staff were kind. Location of hotel in golden zone would be hard to beat, you are right in the center of all resturants, and entertainment. Yes i would return Front desk should give all guests at check in a list of the rules.
El Cid El Moro Beach

I highly recommend El Cid Vacation Club for your families Vacation destination. Alejandra, Daniela, Veronica, and Verenice at the club elite made sure that our every need was met. The rooms at El Moro are spacious and clean. There is a large variety of restaurants to choose from. They have a wonderful theme show and buffet style dinner each night. If you love fine dining, then I recommend casa del club for a wonderful steak dinner. The location is close to the Golden zone and minutes away from the Malecon and Plaza Machado. You will surely love the culture and enjoy the friendly atmosphere here at El Cid.
Oceano Palace

The main needs of this vacation were beach, sand, pool, drinks, food. This fit the bill as the cheapest, direct flight for both my wife and I from BC and my brother and his wife from SK. A RIU this resort is NOT but we knew that going in. We knew the food would not be great, it isn't in the buffet. It's adequate for one visit maybe two but after that too limited and too repetitive. We chose instead to visit one of the smaller restaurants and either the Luna, Pacific Tower or Star Palace from breakfasts and select one of the dinner options each evening. Through that dining experience which was good we met Ramon. What an exceptionally pleasant, knowledgeable, hardworking and catering man. We asked to use the one dining room that was closed to play cards in. It was hard to find a quiet place to get away for that kind of activity. He said absolutely and turned the lights on for us and even asked us what we would like to drink. He even made the drinks, which were all exceptional, himself. Each evening then we asked for dinner that would take us to Ramon. He gave us special treatment and made us very welcome each evening for dinner and our card games. He served us drinks through the evening even while he was managing the dinners. The last evening he made me a dirty martini that was very excellent. Four olives!! If we were to decide to go here again we would choose the Luna Palace to stay in as it is a bit more laid back, nice pool and quieter. Not fault of the hotel but bands play on the beach and are extremely loud. The hotel was also fully booked with local families and associations or teams so very busy. We never were able to use the main pool but the Pacific pool was a good alternative and we stayed on the beach under a Palapa.
