Martinhal Sagres Beach Family Resort Hotel

We stayed here for a week mid October as a couple with a 15 month old. Positives The weather was stunning (early 20s) and it’s a beautiful location (worth the private transfer of 90 mins ). The resort’s concept of being family friendly was spot on - baby friendly meals, lots to do for under 10 year olds. The staff were so helpful and warm. The food throughout was outstanding! Mornings on the private beach and afternoons by the pool with a cocktail - bliss! Not so positive! However, accommodation issues contribute to us on giving this a 4* review. The garden room apartment we booked as an upgrade wasn’t good. It needed some serious TLC and money spent on it. We spoke to maintenance three times in the first 36 hours due to a broken bathroom window catch (so the window sporadically opened - mostly at night), a broken lounge window seal (so kept flooding in the lounge after rain), the fridge shelves/frozen compartment was broken (not all useable), plus the microwave needing replacing (never worked). The cleaning wasn’t great as I found small plastic on the floor and someone else’s hair clip under a sofa. The final straw was damp around the patio door. Not very 5*! The staff however turned it around, were always polite and we got a free upgrade to an ocean house - so contrasting and it was amazing! We would consider returning, but out of season and avoid the garden rooms! I’ve shared photos of both the apartment and the ocean house.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. Upon arriving the gal at the desk ______ Lopes (female) - (sorry I don't remember her name) was very pleasant & also made a great suggestion for us for dinner that night. She also was very knowledgable about the Algarve area & spoke english very well. The restaurant was Carlos Restaurant - amazing food/service, etc. The hotel was very clean, the breakfast was delicious & had several options from different breads, fresh juices, eggs, meats, cheeses, champagne & fruit. We didn't spend a lot of time at the hotel other than for breakfast & sleeping. Overall, this hotel was very comfortable but I think a bit pricey however, it is probably one of the best hotels in the area if you want to spend it in Sagres. We were taking the days & traveling to other parts of the Algarve, although it was a nice place to stay it was a little out of the way as we drove back & forth to different areas. If you are wanting a place to stay for a few days, relax & just do nothing it is a great place to hang out.
NAU Salema Beach Village

Wow what a find. We just did a google search and found this place and took a chance. So glad we did. We had a 2 bed apartment and it was really spacious. Living/dining area, large kitchen, 2 big bedrooms with en suites and our bed was huge! A garden with terrace and a large balcony overlooking the pool. Staff super friendly and a shuttle takes you down and back from the beach as the road up is pretty steep but only a 15 min walk. The pool area was not that busy or noisy although, as you would expect, it was buzzing and lively. No annoying music playing or kids club type stuff thankfully. All very grown up but lots of families. Nice pool bar serving drinks and good food. Salema itself is beautiful and quaint and rustic too. The only slight gripe I have is that the kitchen is not that well equipped so if you have a large family and don't want to eat out every night this could be tricky. Also if you are a coffee addict like me, the apartment is only equipped with one of those Nespresso things which personally i don't like!!

This place is a haven of tranquillity and we have been there more than 10 times. The atmosphere is chilled and the service and friendliness of the staff are both superior. They have an issue with non-entitled guests parking in disability designated parking spaces, which is irritating. Hopefully this issue will be resolved prior to our next visit, to which we are already looking forward.
