I stayed at MacDougall Clansman in April while on vacation with a group of friends. We had 3 rooms in total and all of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location is excellent, it was a 5 minute walk from the train station, even with my very American suitcase. Iain and I had messaged earlier in the day about my arrival time and my room was ready early when I got there around 1:30pm. Even though we all booked separately, Iain surmised our group was together and managed to put us in rooms near each other which was really nice. The rooms were all clean and neat with tea and coffee with a kettle as well. Breakfast each morning was prepared to order, good variety of standard European breakfast items available plus more traditional Scottish breakfast. We easily walked to restaurants and bars nearby, parking is available on the street or in a nearby parking garage. Highly recommend staying here when you are in Inverness!

We stayed at The Penta from Sunday, July 17 through Thursday July 21, 2022. That Monday, we had a private tour of the Isle of Skye, and got back to the hotel at about 8:30 PM. We were tired and went to the hotel restaurant for dinner at about 8:50 PM, right before it closed. My wife ordered salmon. Huge mistake. At home, we would never order fish on a Monday, and especially not during a heat wave. But, we were on holiday and let our guard down. My wife is a physician (internal medicine), and based on the timing and severity of her symptoms, as well as her prior meal, she is extremely confident the salmon was bad. (My son and I ate burgers.) The next two days were a nightmare. She was in bed all day Tuesday, alternating between vomiting and violent, putrid diarrhea. We had a private tour booked to Glencoe on Wednesday, and were so thankful that it was not a bus tour. Our guide, Andy, stopped often for her, but we finally had to cut the tour short. This was truly disappointing as we flew to Scotland from NY for this vacation. I informed the chef of our suspicion on Wednesday evening. He told me he did not work on Monday night, but would look into it. He seemed genuinely sympathetic, but I never heard back. I also informed the front desk staff, who were similarly sympathetic, but I heard nothing from them, either. I was really disappointed by the utter lack of follow-up. Food poisoning is a serious health concern, and everybody apparently blew it off. If you are considering staying here, let me provide an honest assessment of the hotel below. Restaurant (F) See above. It earned this failing grade. Staff (B-) Over our stay, I interacted with four or five people, and they could not have been more polite and helpful EXCEPT FOR THE UTTER LACK OF ATTENTION TO OUR FOOD POISONING REPORT. i asked for a fan because the hotel, like most in the city, has no a/c. They provided two, which really helped. They were all friendly and nice. I would give the staff a solid A were it not for the food poisoning incident. Amenities (A+) The hotel bar is nice, and features a pool table and very ample, comfortable seating, including couches and tables. I enjoyed playing pool with my son while my wife recuperated in bed. The lounge bathrooms were modern, large, and spotless. The fitness center is quite good, with everything you need for a decent workout, and even has a tv and sound system. Plus, you can reserve the room for an hour. Location (A+) The Penta is a 5-minute walk from the train station, and is really close to wonderful pubs, restaurants, shops, etc. You can walk everywhere you need to be. Room (C-) We paid for the premium room, but there was absolutely nothing premium about it. The room was small, much smaller than we expected after looking at the photos online, and very, very sp****. There are no closets, so you get to hang your clothes on a hipster metal pipe that is attached to a desk. That said, the room was clean and serviced n

It does the job but that's about it. We stayed 2 nights during our Isle of skye trip. The shared room was big enough for 4 people to move around but besides of 2 bunk beds there was absolutely nothing else in the room. A chair or two might have been great as when you are at the bottom bunk you can't sit on it as the top bunk is set to low. The beds were fairly comfortable but noise every time you moved. The bathrooms very supposedly cleaned but def weren't, the sign was just put up. The floors in the shower were dirty, only two hooks, so the chance of your stuff getting wet were pretty high. Also super annoying was the push and stop buttons in the shower, they turn of every 15 sec or so, it's annoying to take a shower. Same for the ”give it a good yank” in the toilets, most of the time the yank wasn't enough and the toilets didn't flush. The kitchen upstairs is small, we only stored something in the fridge but I wouldn't cook there as it's just waaaaay to small. The good thing is the location as it's right around the corner from the bus stop. If you simple need a place to stay overnight, I would say it's alright but still too expensive for what is offered.

On the banks of the Inverness River, the parking lot is not very big. When we came back at night, there was no parking space. We were given a place where we could park far away. Anyway, we just passed by for one night. Sky Island didn’t have a reserved room and stayed there This is it, later I found that the scenery of Loch Ness seems to be better. But half an hour to the north, there is a cape where you can see dolphins. It is said that you can see them even if you go there. We waited for more than ten minutes to see two dolphins.

This is an exceptional hotel with a staff that goes above and beyond to make your stay special. We arrived to be greeted at the door with help with our luggage by Vicky. She gave us some highlights and sent us out to explore. Upon returning, our bags were on our room, and Sava helped us settle in. The breakfast was the best in Scotland. Everything was fresh and the table beautifully set. The service and food were expertly done. Seva helped us get a taxi and is an expert in her field. This was the best experience of our whole trip.

Located five minutes outside of Drumnadrochit, but the owner gave us excellent directions and we found it without a problem. You do need to drive to find somewhere to eat (and there’s very limited choice in the evenings), but the owners recommended the Loch Ness Inn which we dropped in to before arrival and the food and beer were excellent Warm friendly welcome by the lady of the house, showed us around and explained everything. Room was excellent – very spacious and all controlled by Amazon Echo (including the heating). View from our window was across Loch Meiklie and there were even binoculars in the room for a better view. Coffee / tea making facilities with an array of snacks to help ourselves to if we wanted. Bathroom was great with large walk in shower. Bed was large and very comfortable. Breakfast was continental only, but it was stunning. Wide range of pastries, cereal, fruit etc with a selection of cold meats and different cheeses – one of our favourite breakfasts of our two weeks in Scotland. The hosts Stu and his wife were first class – excellent conversation over breakfast Great value for money. Would definitely stay here again if we’re ever in this part of the country.

Best night sleep I had while in Scotland. Room was small, but clean, clean, clean! We were worried that the squeaky hallway would mean a noisy night if people walked by, but didn’t hear it all. I had had a pretty rough day, but the warm welcome we had from the gentleman at the front desk started a turn around in my day. He was helpful, gracious, and gave great advice about things to do and see. And in the evening, he helped me carry/run my late night snacks (cheese board and desserts) through the rain to my door. Not sure of his working hours, but he always seemed to be at the front desk! The ladies behind the bar at the upstairs restaurant were hilarious and worked really well with each other, as well as providing great customer service. Wi-fi was good. Electric showers had great water pressure and obviously, plenty of hot water. Comfy bed. Coffee and tea in room with cute novelty cups; and cups were a nice size (proper cupper in the morning). No lift and thicker carpet, so easier to carry cases than drag them. Plenty of parking in back. Close to most things at Loch Ness and only about 2 miles to Urquhart Castle.

We had to roam around town as we were delayed on the train and then to the B&B to meet with the owner to check in at a specific time. Had we known there was seating out back, we would’ve sat there for three hours instead of roaming around a hot city, tired from travel, with all our luggage! The courtyard is cute with lots of potted nasturtiums. Our room had a large ensuite bathroom and two chairs to have tea which was provided on the table along with a tea kettle. There is a closet for clothes, and two end tables with lamps. The bed slanted a little on one side, and I kept rolling to the edge a bit. But the room was clean, quiet at night and early morning and it’s all we needed just to sleep. The breakfast had several types of cereals, yogurt, fresh fruits, and juices. The owner, Andy, took our order for eggs, hot oatmeal, sausage, ham or bacon, which was quite nice. He automatically brought out toasted bread. It was certainly plentiful. But when it states 8:00 for breakfast--we didn’t feel very welcome for being early risers at 7:45.

I stayed here for one night while I was cycling the great Glen way. Check in was quick, key in door and luggage had been put in a garden room for me. There is a secure bike storage at this place. There was tv, towels in the room, great outside seating area and good free WiFi. I had access to a communal kitchen in the main house which had all the facilities you could ask for as well as some home made cake left for guests. Good location directly opposite village green and on the way. Staff really helpful and willing to let me check out a little later if required. Comfy bed and good hot shower. I would recommend this place.

A previous reviewer was really down on the King's Club which is a newer adjunct to the older Kingsmill Hotel where the main dining room and bar are located. I'm not sure if we could both be reviewing the same place. First of all I found the staff very helpful and nor clueless as suggested. The rooms are quite nice and I really enjoyed the outdoor patio with the Inverness golf course only a few feet away. Watching and chatting with passing golfers and dog walkers was a bonus. The room was spacious with a very nice bathroom which had a separate bathtub & shower. The breakfast buffet was quite nice if not over the top and the fruit was not old as suggested and the eggs were not disgusting. In fact they were presented exactly as at the Gleneagles resort which is definitely five star. It was an easy fifteen minute walk into the heart of Inverness. Overall I would certainly recommend the King's Club.

Disappointed that key fobs for the garage car park are no longer given out like the previous 2 times we have stayed in the apartments. Having to get out of the car to operate shutter was an inconvenience. In addition the ground floor lobby lift button was missing for 5 days of the stay with meant having to go up/downstairs to call lift as was travelling with someone who couldn't use the stairs, this was another major inconvenience which they seemed in no rush to fix. There was also loud music from somewhere below coming into the 1st Floor apartment until 2am some nights, I can only assume this is from one of businesses, I hadn't experienced this before on previous stays so must be something new, however as far as I'm aware there is no live music venue in the building???

The beauty cannot be expressed in words. When I drive into the manor, the road is lined with lush trees and the road is long. As I move forward, I see a beautiful old castle with a sense of history. The flowers in front of the door are in full bloom and the lobby lounge is warmly lit. It feels like I am home. The handsome Scottish boy at the front desk was warm and humorous. The cheapest hotel in the UK, it’s a B&B, but it’s a good impression. Her husband was very reluctant to go to the place before departure, but he also praised it after arriving. The room is clean and tidy, much warmer than the photos on the Internet. See the master’s intentions There are a few rooms in the store, and an old couple runs by themselves. But the details are arranged very well. I have a good night's sleep. The morning hostess's breakfast is also very good. We are a very good experience for not staying at the hotel.

Darroch View B&B
4.1/515 Reviews
Inverness
|37.44km from city centre
Our rooms, mine and a friends were booked through a travel agent. We arrived in the area at about 6 PM and while ordering dinner at a restaurant we decided we should contact the B and B where we were staying for the night. From the moment she answered the phone she had an attitude. She started by saying she had sent us two emails that day and had tried to call us. We are not from Scotland and our phones do not work there. We did use WIFI each night though to check emails and such. We NEVER received a call or and email from Darroch View. Anyway she told us we had to be at her facility before 7 to check in or we had no room for the night. We left my husband at the restaurant (we had already ordered) and since we were 20-30 minutes from her we drove above what speed was safe to the address provided. As we found the entrance my friend was driving a little too fast and tired to slow but, not to her satisfaction. We parked and she came up to me, the passenger and said ”you better watch your speed here, you almost hit my dog.” We saw her AND the dog on a leash. They were about 15-20 feet from the road...So we didn't almost hit the dog. This dog was a large pit bull type that kept lunging on the lead. We went inside with her grumbling the whole time. Checked in and she starts giving verbal instructions about locking this door but not that door and after 10 PM and my eyes glazed over. No written instructions like any reputable B and B would have. I will say this was one of the cleanest places we stayed our whole time in Scotland. The room with 2 twin beds was TINY, had to turn sideways to walk around the beds to the bathroom. She supplied plenty of towels, soaps, coffee packets, etc. We went to leave and the driver of our car found she had pulled in in such a position the she was having a hard time backing out. If you go forward there was a significant drop off and there was another car parked there along with a huge travel trailer. Space was VERY limited. She noticed a sign saying COTTAGE Parking with and arrow pointing to the right. So, she figured she would go that way and then turn around in that parking area. It was smaller than the parking in the front. We were trying to turn around doing the 2” one way and then 2” another way method with me watching to make sure she didn't hit the other car back there or any property. The owner comes out and starts yelling at the driver, YELLING. Telling her she is responsible for that customers car, ect. and we are going to hit it. The car we rented was one of those that turns itself off when you idle too long, etc Then she starts telling her she is clueless. Then she yells, just back out and continues to yell, ”keep going”. About half way out while backing up, her husband comes out. HE WAS WORSE. He kept telling the driver to get out and he would get the car out of there. She didn't want to because the car was rented in her name and she was responsible for it. I told him she was trying to be careful and not (de

We arrived at Glenan Lodge a bit early as my husband had a whisky tour booked at Tomatin Distillery, the proximity to which was our initial reason for booking this B&B. Kay, the owner, showed us our room, the guest lounge & advised us of the availability of evening meal & breakfast times, as well as menu for the same. She gave us our keys & told us how to get hold of her if required. All in all our 2 night stay here was exactly what we needed, the accommodation was homely, very clean & comfortable. The food was home cooked, tasty & plentiful. The availability of a bar in the evening was a bonus, as the house is out of town so no access to pubs within walking distance. Kay & her small staff made us feel most welcome & nothing was a problem. A lovely place to stay and being just a few minutes off the A9, handy for touring the highlands as well.

So we booked a log cabin in the woods and we were completely shocked when we arrived and found a cabin made of logs! In the woods! Not sure what the other reviews are about, as it’s a lovely place. We had been a bit worried when we saw other reviews but I can only assume the people leaving these reviews had some expectations that were slightly unrealistic. It is in the middle of nature so there will be spiderwebs outside. Everything you need to self cater is here. Only one wine glass was the only devastating discovery during our stay. The sponge was fine! Instant hot water, a great shower and a lovely view. We would like to come back in the future so please keep the trees growing in front of the top cabins at the height they are at now as the view will be lost if they are allowed to grow. Thank you for having us. See you again next time!

We visited inverness for a short time and we honestly couldn’t of had an easier accommodation experience, the staff are very friendly and attentive to your every need, when we first arrived they upgraded our room for free and let us check in early further more when we wanted breakfast in the morning it only cost us £10 a head and they offer a wide range of breakfast options, when we checked out they also let us keep our bags at the house whilst we spent our last few hours exploring the city. Highly recommend, priced well too.

Ok so it’s a hostel ! But in this day and age i expect it to be cleaned between the different parties staying here ! It’s more than just the bedding needs changed and cleaned regularly ! Ok guests please keep the kitchen clean and tidy well it didn’t happen and the mould in the fridge and the general cleanliness of shared areas left a lot to be desired !! Sorry regardless of it being our responsibility when clearly it’s not being done staff should be ensuring health and safety is paramount especially given the current climate We cleaned up after ourselves but unless we went in with scrubbers, bleach and steam cleaners it would take days to clean up the mess that was the kitchen I was in a room two singles and a double and not enough room leftover to swing a cat never mind put all our gear bags etc we were literally on top of each other There’s no shared sitting room or anywhere other than the kitchen to relax, converse or do anything really ! The bathroom was ok apart from the bath panel Hanging off oh and the mould around the bath/shower but it was hot !

This is what the Trip Advisor site says: “Loch Ness Lodge is an elegant and intimate retreat - a luxury B&B - in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, which brings together the very best of traditional Scottish architecture and contemporary design. With seven sumptuous, individually designed bedrooms, elegant reception rooms, a spa and therapy area and access to some of Scotland's most stunning scenery, Loch Ness Lodge has everything you could need for an unforgettable break.” Unfortunately, it’s not quite true. Although a lovely B&B, it does not have a spa or therapy rooms nor does it have everything you need for an unforgettable break. If you are an American and think you are getting 5 star lodge, you will be disappointed as were we. It has none of the amenities we are accustomed to at a 5 star facility based on US standards. It is indeed a lovely Bed and Breakfast with superb service. When the manager realized we were disappointed he offered a complimentary bottle of Prosecco which was very generous. The staff goes over and above to make guests feel welcome. We appreciated that. The room had a great view of the Loch Ness and was comfortably appointed. Other than breakfast, there are no meals served here. You can request a charcuterie plate in advance. For lunch or dinner you must walk down a hill to a nearby restaurant (The Clansman). Otherwise, you have to get a taxi into Inverness (about 20 minutes). The hill makes it unadvisable for people with mobility issues. Overall, if you are interested in an upscale B&B you will appreciate Loch Ness Lodge and its wonderfully hospitable staff.

I really like this homestay. The location is excellent, the rooms are Scottish and clean and tidy. The only regret is that I went to Sky Island for a day trip in the middle of three days. As a result, the weather was super bad in the middle of the day. It was raining, cold and humid, and I didn’t see a good view during the day. It’s better to have a sunny day in the inverness town or sit on the balcony of the hotel and have a coffee. On the last day of the breakfast, according to my custom request, I gave two fried eggs and two mushrooms. It can be said that it is very nice~ I can watch the morning sun from the window of the room where I live. It is very comfortable. I will stay here next time. And have plenty of time to go shopping in the town and balcony to drink coffee ~

En route home from having a great 2 night stay at Foyers House, hosts Louise and Terry were very welcoming and very knowledgeable of the local area and beyond. We stayed in the Tarff room which was very comfortable and exceptionally clean throughout, the view of the Loch from the window was stunning. We had breakfast and evening meal on both days, which were outstanding! Couldn't fault quality or presentation. Had a great night with the other guests in The Wee Dram which is located inside the house. If your a Whiskey lover you could not be disappointed as there are over 200 whiskeys to choose from. Most definitely will return to this hidden little Gem. Only one downfall the Internet connection in the Foyers area was poor. Mike & ,Jay Manchester 😊
