Abbotsford Hotel

Abbotsford Hotel ★★★

📍 14 Corsehill Road, Ayr

"We booked on line with ***********, when we arrived we were told there was no kitchen as it was getting refurbished, they should have been upfront with this before booking  We also had our 9 year old granddaughter with us and due to the bye laws she was not allowed in the bar even with been accompanied with an adult. The problem was on Friday evening there was nowhere for us to sit with our drinks and after a lot of consultation we were eventually allowed to sit in the breakfast area. Not good enough"

Burnside Guest House

Burnside Guest House ★★★★

📍 14 Queen's Terrace, Ayr

"When we arrived i discovered that our bathroom wasn't en-suite! "private bathroom" means across the landing which you have a key to. So be careful when booking. The room was clean/ nice decor. We left the "please service our room" on our door handle...but it wasn't done. We got back from a trip late after 10pm and had to use damp cold towels....not great and tea cups still dirty etc. The cooked breakfast was lovely and tasty but there was only cereal 1st .....no pastries/fruit yoghurts etc. Which really is to be expected nowadays."

Lochinver Guesthouse

Lochinver Guesthouse ★★★

📍 32 Park Circus, Ayr

"Wonderful, as always. Immaculate room and an outstanding breakfast in lovely surroundings."

"Spotlessly clean modern room in a lovely quiet courtyard. Plenty of parking or a short walk from the train station and town centre where there’s a good choice of restaurants. John, the owner, gave me a warm welcome and is a very friendly guy. If he could make one small improvement I’d love to see USB A&C chargers each side of the bed as I like to have my phone on charge, but that’s just me! I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again or recommend to anyone else."

"Arrived quite early in the day and was worried that we had a few hours to wait for check in, but we met someone there who said it would be ready in 5 mins. We parked in the front, there's permit parking along the road. The flat we were in is really well arranged. A large double bed (made of two singles) each with a pull out divan that we used for our kids. Everything is in one room, a space has been built for a shower room, toilet and sink, a bench seat in the window and a table for a kettle, coffee etc. There's even a very small mini fridge underneath. I was a bit worried about the idea of a communal kitchen and dining space, but it's really spacious and well kitted out with cutlery, plates, pans, kettle, toaster and fridge. I don't think there were many other residents when we stayed, so we never encountered anybody there. Overall, a really nice place to stay if you ever visit Ayr. "

Western House Hotel ★★★★
"Rooms were clean and adequate. Staff attentive and friendly. However, there was a Wedding on the same day and when we arrived for our evening dinner, we didn't get our starters until 8.45pm when our table was booked for 6.30. Although, to be fair to the staff, we were 25minutes late. We had an 20mth old boy with us, who sat very patiently waiting for a pizza. This took 1hr 45mins to be brought out. We were then told that the Chef was having a meltdown in the kitchen.Cant fault the waiting staff, but if you want to starve to death or eat at midnight then this is the place to go."

Mercure Ayr Hotel ★★★
"Not happy This is the second time I have stayed in the mercure, first time ok .  Went down hill asked to check in early as we were going to a wedding. If they have a room available which didn't know till 11am that morning, we would need to pay extra £50.  Went back to hotel after wedding people couldn't get luggage room open  Next morning breakfast all I can say was dried up .  Went to check out girl said that is u everything paid I asked if we could leave car in car park said it would be ok but just put number in just incase  as we r were covered till 12pm which is when we checked  All of a sudden we had to pay £7  But was clear 5mins earlier  Won't be back there again ."

"Was down for the Airshow yesterday and stayed overnight. Although we were due to check-in at 2pm, the host Julia allowed us to do it earlier meaning we could go and enjoy the show. She also emailed a few days before explaining how the parking permit would work on the day of the event, which was great and stress free. Perfect location, 5min walk to the beach, 5min walk to the main street with bars/restaurants. The room was fine, nice and clean and we had a great night's sleep. Scottish breakfast was lovely. Overall great experience, Julia the host was very friendly and welcoming. Will definetly be booking back up for next year 😄"

Burnside Guest House ★★★★
"The Burnside is a welcoming guest house with very clean, well appointment rooms. The host, Paul, is friendly and accommodating, and it was a pleasure to chat with him. My room had a separate bathroom right next door on the top floor, which wasn't a problem. The shower is excellent. The family room was spacious and the bed very comfortable. I stayed for two nights and chose to have breakfast. The available selection was good and cooked breakfast was very tasty. The location of the guest house is ideal for being close to town and the beach. There is permit parking outside, and I was given a free permit for the duration of my stay. I would certainly recommend this property for your stay in Ayr."
