We made it back to The Planters House after six years and couldn’t help but wonder why we waited so long! The charm of this beautiful bungalow remains unchanged since our last visit in 2019. It was lovely to see the same familiar faces—Amila and Lasantha, who took wonderful care of us. During our stay, we had the entire bungalow to ourselves— which was truly special and relaxing. The Peacock Suite, the pool, and the food were all outstanding. We’ve promised ourselves not to wait so long next time—this place deserves more frequent visits!

Planters House was fantastic! The team were all so lovely and welcoming, and the views are honestly to die for. Being located up in the mountains, surrounded by nothing but tea, was just beautiful and so peaceful. The hotel doesn’t have a restaurant, instead you order what you want at what time you want it, which is such a unique experience. As others have mentioned, the hotel is a Jeep-ride up a steep mountain which adds to the experience and sense of adventure. The hotel is a little rough around the edges and not as polished as the pictures, but for us this added to the charm.

Bit late writing this review but I really wanted to get across how beautiful this property is and how attentive the staff were. We actually had the place to ourselves when we were there and the staff could not do enough for us - whether it was offering us teas or food or recommending places to walk. The scenery is indescribable and the house itself is so historic. Bed was super comfy and the bathroom had a lovely bath where you could relax and gaze out the window. My only word of warning is that the journey from Haputale was a bit hair raising and not for the faint hearted - but we just tried to not think about the drops off the road and just look at the scenery!

Magical well renovated colonial house away from it all with wonderful views. It was spotlessly clean and well maintained. The staff were so very helpful and the food was first class. It really was like staying in someone’s lovely home with personal service. Beautiful walks can be done through local villages and even up to Lipton’s Seat. As it is so secluded, the roads to it are challenging so they will send a jeep to pick you up, which adds to the adventure and exclusivity.

A beautiful old-fashioned with amazing infinity pool that makes you feel like you are floating in the tree canopy. The journey from the pickup point should only be attempted using the hotel’s transport. It is a challenge but adds to the sense of adventure.

We stayed for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and simply loved it. The house and grounds are so beautiful and so well kept. The location is amazing and it feels like you have died and gone to heaven. We walked, relaxed, played croquet on the lawn and swam in the pool (which is gorgeous). We drank tea and ate breakfast outside and even watched movies with a log fire blazing away. The staff even prepared us a proper Christmas dinner (which was yummy). We totally recommend it. The staff are very attentive and extremely helpful. There are a couple of things to note though. The drive up to the house from the road is about 45 minutes on an extremely bumpy path and the linens need a little attention. We also thought that the bathrooms could do with a spruce up. BUT because of where you are you understand. BUT any negatives melt away because of where you are and you can let the world melt away in this idyllic setting. Utterly gorgeous.

A unique experience
It was a unique experience. A hotel in the top of the mountain in a very quiet area. Very nice and helpful personal and we felt that its a privat hotel just for us.
