AAmarFromUKSo if you are coming here, you are going to Wanda Ski Resort. There are so many many hotels in the area that it really doesn't matter so much which one you pick.
Holiday Inn is one of the furthest away from the resort, but the price reflects this. However, it is still only a 10-15min walk (even when it's cold and icy) from the resort. The hotel is busy, there will be wait for the front desk, this is why service got 4/5, but the actual information from staff was okay (no English though so god bless my Chinese partner)
The hotel has a mini cinema, a restaurant and access to the ski slopes. You can hire ski's, snowboards along with all the boots and clothing required so you don't need to worry about that.
In the hotel is the rental place, you rent your gear and you simply walk out of the hotel and you are at the ski slopes. Please note this is NOT the same 10min walk to Wanda ski resort, the hotel has its own access to the mountain and you use that.
The restaurant is fine and breakfast was a buffet with mainly Chinese but some western stuff too.
The room, it's not large, but not cramped. Very warm, we even needed the windows open at -40C outside to avoid being too hot.
There is a mini supermarket in the hotel, but a better 24 hour store across the road.
I think for the money paid compared to other hotels, its very good value. Maybe other hotels have bigger rooms or more restaurants, but as every hotel is next to each other, I wouldn't bother paying more to get one closer to the resort as you can save thousands of RMB for a 1 min walk.
And as most of your time will be spent in Wanda ski resort, you won't be in your room much.
I doubt I would return to Changbaishan / Wanda Ski resort as an area, but if I did, then as long as the value was still there, Holiday Inn Express is a good enough choice

Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by the staff, who went above and beyond to ensure my check-in process was smooth and pleasant. Their friendliness and attentiveness made me feel right at home. Throughout my stay, the staff remained incredibly helpful, always ready to assist with any request, whether it was recommendations for local dining or arranging transportation.
The accommodations were nothing short of luxurious. My room was spacious, beautifully designed, and offered stunning views. The attention to detail in the decor and amenities truly reflects the high standards of the Park Hyatt brand.
The resort’s facilities were also impressive, with a fantastic outside hot spring in the snow that provided a perfect retreat after a long day on the slopes. The dining options were delightful, featuring a range of delicious cuisine that catered to all tastes. Each meal was a culinary delight, and the service was impeccable.
Another highlight was the ski access; the location is ideal for both beginners and experienced skiers. The staff at the ski resort provided excellent guidance and support, making it easy to enjoy the slopes.
Overall, my stay at the Park Hyatt Ski Resort in Changbaishan was nothing short of magical. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a luxurious and memorable getaway in the mountains. I can’t wait to return!

It is the best hotel I have ever stayed in! Highly recommended! I saw other people's comments saying it was very cold before, but we stayed for three nights in a row, and it was not cold at all, and even felt a little hot. We even opened the window to sleep at night.

Although the rafting time is short, it is very photogenic and you can definitely see the rime! And you don’t have to worry about getting wet, it is very gentle, especially suitable for taking pictures

[Skiing]
1-The ski resort is not big. It is very friendly to beginners, and there are good routes for intermediate players to practice. Advanced players may find the black trails less exciting, but fortunately, the park props are well designed, and the forest trails are great after snow. I skied for two days and still felt unsatisfied. It's small but beautiful.
2-If conditions permit, go to the Costin ski equipment hall to borrow a board. The style is more advanced, the quality is better, and it's newer. The only drawback is that you need to return to Costin to return the board. I didn't study to go to Costin to try my luck and see the board until the third day, but I didn't use a good quality board until the third day. Hate it, I was angry about weight gain for the past two days.
3-Why do you say this? I borrowed 5 women's snowboards in the ski equipment hall of the ski town. The serrations on the bindings of 4 boards were rounded and could not be hooked. There were many dangerous situations where the bindings opened by themselves after skiing (screaming! It's fatal!) I was very angry! Friends, life is the most important! The space capsule is new and well-equipped. I was originally worried that it would be too cold at night, but unexpectedly I was woken up by the heat in the morning. The bed is moderately soft and easy to sleep on, and the hot water is also very hot. There is also a starry sky ceiling and a projector to play videos. It is very special to have such enjoyment in this ice and snow place. You can also feel that the boss pays attention to the details of the decoration, which is very good!
The most fun thing is ice fishing. I originally came to this tent for ice fishing. I caught three fish in the morning and 14 fish in the afternoon.
