This was my first time staying at a hostel, and Botanical Backpackers was absolutely adorable! The all-girls dorms were perfect for a peaceful stay and the space was cozy and well-maintained. The staff were incredibly accommodating. The location couldn’t have been better—right in a prime area, making it easy to explore everything Belfast has to offer. I had such a great experience and would definitely stay here again!

I've been to Botanical Backpackers a few times now and I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Belfast, the décor is so cool, the owner is so welcoming and friendly and I always end up having lovely chats with the other guests. I always feel like I'm in a matriarchal Wes Anderson film when I stay here and there's no place like it!

I'm now writing this review, because the Botanical Backpackers Hostel is the best, warmest, coziest hostel I've ever been to in my life. Period. I was staying here for a couple of days in August of 2023. Erica, the owner, one of the nicest people I've ever met and the girls who volunteered made me feel safe and at home in a for me foreign country and new city. Please, don't listen to the old reviews from many years ago on this page. The hostel was owned by another person back then, and now everything at Botanical Backpackers is very clean and very safe! Yes, it may be a bit noisy at times, but that's because the hostel is located in a very old house. The quiet after 9 p.m. rule is great and while I was there, everyone followed it. And yes, there are "only" two toilets and two showers - but, remember, there are never more than maybe 15-18 women there max., so you can easily talk with eachother or wait for two minutes before you hop in the shower. I met so many nice women there from all over the world, with who I'm still in contact with 1 1/2 years later. The beds were comfortable, the breakfast was delicious, the location of the hostel is great (right next to the university, the museum and the botanical garden). And, plus, they do your laundrey there, if you are on a longer trip. Also Belfast has great pubs, great guided tours, and is located very well to go on daytrips around Northern Ireland. I'm planning on going back to Botanical Backpackers Hostel again very soon and I can't wait!

Great, cozy and calm hostel in perfect location for travelling around Belfast. We stayed in a six person shared room which was a great size and beds were very comfortable. The staff were friendly and we apprecited the free breakfast and tea and coffee. It definitely felt like a home away from home! There was a quiet at 9pm rule which meant as we were going on nights out, we did have to creep around but that was expected. There are only two toilets but did not find this a problem even when hostel seemed full. One shower also didn’t stay hot, but all in all me and my three friends have left very happy. It was definitely female traveller dominant, so I would keep that in mind.

One of the best hostels I've stayed at, so cosy, free breakfast including freshly made pancakes! Erika went out of her way to help me & give recommendations for me to do some more remote adventuring on my own. Perfect peaceful non-party vibe, very homely, lovely guests.

A really lovely hostel! Probably one of the best I’ve ever been to. It’s a really wonderful homey vibe that’s calm and relaxing. The staff are all friendly, and the owner takes great pride in the business. I loved just chilling out, but the other guests were all very nice and really respectful. It was nice that everyone was having a good time. The free breakfast is fantastic, and the kitchen is really well equiped. It’s also extremely clean. Probably the only little thing to note is from my top bunk the wifi rarely connected, so we would need to sit downstairs in order to use wifi. Some others had similar experiences, others had good wifi so I certainly wouldn’t let this deter you from this amazing hostel! Staff have lots of recommendations if you ask for them, and offer a discount for the Giants Causeway/Game of Thrones tour. It’s about a 15-20 minute walk into town, but it’s an easy walk and totally worth it. Thanks for a phenomenal stay, and I have no hesitations in recommending this hostel to anyone looking for a home away from home in Belfast!

The staff and guests were all very friendly and welcoming, I had a lovely time! Erika even let me check in a couple hours early because I was going to be out till late after arriving on a morning flight. The hostel is one mile from the centre and a nice and easy 20 min straight walk on main roads (or there's a bus stop right on the corner). This is not a party hostel and I'm so ok with that! They only have one rule and that is quiet after 9pm. Makes for a nice pleasant time! Great atmosphere. I stayed in a 4 bed women's dorm, it's a little bit of a squeeze because the hostel is a converted house. There's lockers in the dorm with keys provided (free of charge) which is a nice touch, the dorms are keypad entry (not sure how often they change codes). I stayed in March and so it was still chilly temps but in a full dorm the air got a little humid from just people's heat/respiration so we opened the window in the mornings (windows would get condensation on the inside), it would be great if they could ensure the window vent remains open (if there is one), open the windows when cleaning (if you don't already), or install a small vent. The bed have a cute little metal basket to keep things handy but there's only one plug socket at the wall and an extension cord in the middle of the beds so a little inconvenient but not a huge problem. The showers and toilets, like everyone has said, are a squeeze and you'll have make sure you leave plenty of time to shower if you needed to be somewhere at a specific time because it does get busy (I just showered at night and not mornings). The breakfast is a lovely cold spread (cereal, breads/bagels with toaster, juice, fruit, tea, and coffee). I didn't get a chance to hang out in the living room so can't say anything on that but it looked cute and cosy. The hospital is right over the road and at the other end of the street is the University and down the road is the Botanical Gardens. Thank you very much for the lovely stay!
