I was told on arrival that I had the cheapest room. No 219. Nothing like poverty shaming to make you feel welcome.! £79 Double so I guess it is what it is. Functional, not uncomfortable and quiet. Good breakfast no supplement for eggs benedict, free newspapers and affable waiting staff. .Free off street parking. Bottled water,Nice biscuits. I don't however feel that cheap should mean sub standard. The room was FULLY airconditiond,on a chilly night. Original metal windows warped and gaping with cracked panels, so could not be closed. Clearly this has been left for years and yet can be rectified. So no direct appeal to address it would have had any effect presumably others have tried in the past. Hence the crack when someone may have tried to force it Kettle lead out of reach of the socket., whichever hard surface you try. This is not user friendly for anyone with the slightest mobility issues. It is also potentially hazardous. Surely this has been raised in person over the years but again has not been addrrssed. What could have been a perfectly satisfactory , reasonably priced stay was marred by these two annoyances
