AVOID!! We’ve just arrived home today from a two nights stay at the Newholme Hotel and this is worst hotel we’ve ever stayed in. We are definitely not the kind of people to complain, but this really needs to be fed back and considered a warning to anyone thinking of booking. Despite featuring on “Four in a bed” in 2022 and professing to meet top quality hygiene standards, I can confirm the hotel couldn’t be further from clean. I dare say the entire establishment hasn’t seen a good clean since appearing on the programme. Prior to arriving, we received an email from the owners to provide the key code for the entrance to the hotel and were told our keys for rooms were in the door. Seamless check in, however there was no one around to raise any issues with, we had to email the owners with our concerns, to which we had no response over the full duration of our stay. As you walk into the hotel you’re immediately hit with a dirty/musty smell. Big bags of dirty laundry in the hall way, the doors are filthy including the doors to the rooms. In fact most surfaces were dirty/grubby with a clear build up of grime and bacteria. Carpets had also clearly not been hoovered in a very long time. There is a door to the right hand side in the hallway and the pane of glass is all smashed. We later discovered this was the entrance to what was the bar and breakfast room, but is now used as storage and a place for the owners/staff to sit. Once in the rooms, we realised we did not receive the rooms we paid for. Our booking confirmation states we were booked in rooms 2, 10 & 11, however we were given 2, 4 & 5. We didn’t receive the king room we requested and paid for. I cannot stress enough how much we are disappointed and disgusted with the cleanliness of all three rooms. Regardless of the price you pay to stay anywhere, cleanliness and good hygiene costs nothing. I have attached photo evidence of all of the issues which were taken across all of three of the rooms we booked. Almost every surface was covered in thick dust and dirt, including behind the beds, bedside drawers, lamps, skirting boards pictures on the walls and even the walls themselves. The window sills were covered in dead flies and muck/dust/mould. There was also what looks like mould up the wall in room 5. Both floors in the rooms and bathrooms had not been cleaned/hoovered and there were obvious crumbs/ dust and what looked like dead insects and insect droppings. There was also a dirty cloth/ towel and rubbish behind the fridge in room 5. We have also got major safety concerns with how the shower had been fitted in room 5, due to exposed cables and overall not meeting IEE regulations. This needs addressed ASAP! In addition to this, to our horror there were stains and hairs on the bed sheets, hairs on all surfaces in the bathroom not to mention skid marks in the toilet in room 4. In all three rooms there is a lot of dirt and grime in the showers/shower tray and in and around the seals . There was a

Some positives, location excellent. Staff were great when we looked our key in room came quick to assist. What let the b&b down was the cleaning. Half eaten sweets. Everywhere dusty. Dirty toilet and bathroom floor. Windows wouldn't shut. Out of date coffee.

I went to the newholme hotel with my daughter and i think its safe to say i will never be returning. As any normal hotel, you would expect to be greeted by a member of staff as you come in, but we were sent an email with the door code, room number and told that our key was in our door. I found this surprising as we told them the exact time we would be arriving and i don't think it would be too much to ask to perhaps available to greet your guests. We weren't greeted by nothing, that would be a vast understatement. Opening the door, we were met with the vile indescribable stench. The only way i can put it into words is saying it's a mix between stale urine and soggy week old toast. It was foul. In addition, there were dirty linen bags on the floor and a big smash in the window of the door to the right hand side. Not the best first impressions. Our room on the other hand was surprisingly pleasant. It smelt considerably better than the hall, with homely decorations and a plentiful tea tray (may i add with lovely biscuits). I also booked a twin room but we were given a family. That's not a bad thing for me. YAY! A bigger bed. But i have to say my daughter was quite jealous. The only negative point i have is that the bathroom door didn't shut and the toilet and shower were a bit stained but that's expected with a budget hotel such as this. What really took our stay downhill was when we were awoken at 4am a to the fire alarm. After a long day of travelling er wanted and nice rest and that was what we got. Until it was ended. The alarm was unnecessarily loud causing my daughter to have a massive panic attack. We were getting ready to evacuate when the alarm suddenly stopped. I looked outside the door, and there was no smoke, no signs of a fire or an evacuation. So we tried to return to sleep. Tried being the word. The following morning after our appalling sleep we both longed for a filling breakfast, but we had not been informed how to get one, where or what time. Also, we didn't think we could bare to eat in that sickening smell, so we took ourselves to the local wetherspoons. It wasn't the best meal but at least the place smelled nice. Anyway, it is sure we will not be retuning there anytime soon.

This "hotel" advertises with the slogan "A warm welcome awaits you at The Newholme Hotel". That is misleading advertising! In this "hotel", the 1st Floor Deluxe Twin Room was booked for one night via AirBnB. When we arrived at the "hotel", we found the doors locked. The management of the "hotel" obviously thought, it was more important to attach rules about the use of bed linen to the booking confirmation, than the access code for the electronic lock. After pressing the Ring videodoorbell, all we heard was incomprehensible murmuring. A person from another hotel came and only called the management of the "hotel" after we showed, that we had not received a door code. As quickly as he appeared, this guy was gone again. Now we were standing in a musty, damp-smelling hallway. The "bar" and the "dining room" were locked. Nowhere was a responsible person in sight to tell us where our room is and to give us the key. We rang the bell again and the same person was sent by management to tell us that the key was in the lock oft he door of the room we had booked. The „Deluxe Twin Room“ turned out to be a poorly renovated room (wallpaper badly stuck on) with a view of the backyard with scaffolding in front of the window. One positive thing to mention is that they made an effort to make it look "deluxe". Since we still had questions about breakfast and afternoon tea, we wanted to contact them via AirBnB. Unfortunately, both the scaffolding and the Blackpool Tower made cell phone reception impossible. There was no WiFi password to be found anywhere. After a 1 ½ mile walk, we were able to email the management for the WiFi password (which was supposedly on the key tag but was illegible). After waiting for 45 minutes, we decided to leave this "hotel" unused, throw our money away and rent a room in a Holiday Inn.

I know this is a budget hotel, but cannot recommend this place. Owner very rude and very poor breakfast. Certain fittings were broken in room but worst is the bed was really uncomfortable. The owner not interested when I complained. Not worth the money.
